Founders leave Blizzard Entertainment

The three guys who founded Blizzard North, the team that developed the Diablo games, have jumped ship along with Blizzard's most important employee, Bill Roper. Roper is mainly responsible for shifting the company from console games like Lost Vikings to the Blizzard we all know that made Warcraft and Starcraft.

I doubt this has anything to do with the direction of Blizzard's game development and more with Vivendi making stupid decisions with their game companies.

I wonder how this will affect Blizzard?

Does this effect Starcraft 2?

We'll never see that anyways.

I used to want a sequel so badly, but then I thought that it's near impossible to improve upon perfection.

Blizzard will get sucked under in a possible Vivendi implosion. The company's licenses will be sold off on the cheap.

Alternatively, the company is being sold to someone these guys don't like, so they're getting out while they can.

Either way, this was a smart move for them. Now that they're free to do what they want, expect a new company helmed by these guys to introduce a "spiritual successor" to one of their series.

Why who's going to end up with Blizzard? Not EA I hope.

Why doesn't Blizzard release another expansion pack like Brood Wars for Starcraft? That game engine still has a lot of life left in it....

Because you generally don't charge $60+ for an expansion.

I'd pay it.

Meh, they do need to make a sequel but they're too busy working on other stuff that nobody cares about.

Yeah cus flooding the market with 20 different podust using the same name makes each release that much more viable.

God forbid they try to expand a profitable franchise.

People like WC3 enough to push 2.5 million preorders on an expansion. Blizzard thinks they can pull off a MMORPG. These are facts, so deal with it.

Wait until you have the product in your hands or have verifyable proof that it's crap before you deem it so.

I'm actually really looking forward to Goblin Commander (that's a pre-E3 news bit). Have been ever since I discovered Ron and Chris Millar were on the project.

Could be bad for Diablo, but hopefully they form a new company which puts out new games at "Blizzard-Level" quality.

Hey, what the fuck are you saying. LOD was awesome expension that added ALOT to the game, and D2 LOD is still great experience to play on Bnet. And how World of Warcraft is not appealing idea for MMORPG???
