Haven't gone yet. Spent three years of my life chasing rainbows.
However, I will probably be going to SCSU or U of MN Duluth next year.
College is for losers. The real winners work retail for the rest of their lives and then become bitter, lonely old men.
edinboro university of pennsylvania.....a shithole.
I went to Rutgers University and got a BS degree in Environmental Economics and Policy with a minor in History.
I start my graduate work this fall at Montclair University in Environmental Health.
However, it seems that college degrees are USELESS. The only work availible is blue collar. Hence, I work at a coffee warehouse doing grunt work for shit pay with High-School dropouts as my peers.
B.A., Amherst College (English, French)
J.D., University of Arizona James E. Rogers College of Law
B.A. in English, minor in Japan Studies, University of Kentucky...
somehow was enough to launch a career as a videogame journalist.
University of Toronto, Hon. BA in East Asian Studies and History. Currently working on MA in same.
Cal State University, Long Beach. It's only one step above community college, and the only reason I'm there is it's affordable and has a good art department.
Computer engineering at Notre Dame, graduated in spring and looking for a job :(
undergrad degrees in non-professional fields most definitely are...you're better off getting a 2 year degree in a technical field at this point...Quote:

I could have went for the MA, but it was largely useless. -and while my degree is useless on paper, pretty much, you really do get as much out of college as you're willing to put in. Especially the field I'm in [art], a degree means nothing anyway, it's all about portfolio, and college can be a good place to learn the skills, develope the portfolio, and make some contacts.
I'm planning on going to a local community college whenever I'm able to, hopefully sometime in the next year.
University of Nevada in Las Vegas, baby! :D
In many ways, it's actually more of a party school with limited intellectual pursuits. On the other hand, we possibly have the best hotel college in the world and a pretty good education department too, which is where I'm at. :)
I was looking to get a degree either in Special Ed, Hotel Administration, or possibly Social Services. If it's Hotel Admin., this is probably the best place on the planet to get training on it. The hire rate out of UNLV locally for Hotel majors is over 70%, which should probably climb as the city grows and more hotels and casinos open :D
But teachers coming out of UNLV have an incredible 99% hire rate out of the college. It's because over the past decade Las Vegas and the surrounding suburbs have been growing at an insane rate, largest rate of increase in the nation, something like 5000-7000 FAMILIES moving here every MONTH!
In fact, guys, if there's anyone out there who has a Bachelor's degree and doesn't like their present job, has ever been curious about living in Vegas, and wouldn't mind being a teacher, you should come out here RIGHT AWAY! Because Clarke County School District has grown ENORMOUSLY with the huge influx of children from people immigrating down here, and their basically hiring ANYBODY with ANY KIND OF BACHELOR'S DEGREE to be teachers. With decent pay! Their so desperate their advertising on television for them and ALSO asking for senior citizens who aren't doing anything to volunteer as well. It's really incredible the need for teachers out here. Even when I graduate in 2 years they'll still likely be in super-high demand.
That's a myth. Really, it's about knowing people and how you present yourself, and that's true no matter what degree you have. I've worked in finance, commerce, publishing, and other white collar industries my degree should have left me frozen out of. Having a Commerce or ComSci degree certainly would have made it easier, but I don't want to do those things long term. But having an arts degree hasn't hurt me at all.Quote:

I'm going to Christopher Newport University in Newport News, VA... which is 20 minutes from home. Really, I could spit that far. *sigh* Anyway, I plan on transferring to a different school after first year. Hopefully.
I don't know about that. The University of Houston Conrad N. Hilton College of Hotel and Restaurant Management is a pretty distinguished institution.Quote:

88, that sounds just like me, except I kept dropping out of community college, so it's even more pathetic.
And we shall continue to work odd jobs until we are old and feeble.
On an unrelated note... where is the party at tomorrow?
lmao.Quote:

got tired of depending on others for ride. no worries though, im about a month away from my motorcycle, so i'll be good to go just in time for the fall semester.
Tomball College - fall 96 - spring 97. Tomball, TX. Community college. Got the basics out of the way before deciding where to go.
University of Oklahoma - fall 97 - fall 99. Norman, OK. Basically wanted to get as far away from home as possible. Lost motivation and flunked out of some courses.
University of Houston - Main - spring 2000 - spring 2001. Houston, TX. Parents calmed down. Started sorting out academic problems. Business college didn't like my academic record, wouldn't let me in. Their MIS program sucked anyway.
University of Houston - Downtown - fall 2001 - summer 2003. Houston, TX. Lower entry requirements, but has a better (nationally recognized, even) MIS (CIS) program than the Main campus. Graduated with above a 3.0 GPA and a BA in CIS.
Which campus were you at?Quote:

I have a cousin, who used to ride the crotch rockets. He got ran over in a shopping center parking lot and was in a coma for about a month. He decided to give the motorcycle one more chance and was ran off the hiway by a motor vehicle. He ended up in the hospital with another coma. He has since given up on motorcycles.
Anyways, I have an Associates Degree in Electronics, from Devry Pheonix. I've been a Network/telephone systems installer ever since. The pay is pretty good and I've seen just about every state in the US, but I sure as hell had to work my ass off to get the degree. I worked 40 hours a week and about 25 hours a week in classes. I was one worn out student.
yeah, i have a friend that just a few months ago crashed cause the car in front of him slammed on their breaks, he flew off his bike, landed on the on-coming lane, and got ran over. luckily he only broke his arm. he's done with bikes.
me on the other hand, have not had my own bike yet, just ridden and have had way too much fun for it to not change my life. i know what im getting myself into, clearly i feel it's worth the risk. still, come my first accident, im done. like i said, all i can do is hope for the best.
I haven't graduated yet (pretty far from it actually). Trying for BBA Entrepreneurship and Strategic Management at the University of North Texas.
I figure I'll be done somewhere around 2006, when the economy's not all screwed up. My friends graduating now are having some pretty tough times finding jobs. :chick:
I'm hoping to go to Durham or St Andrews next year. Maybe the London School of Economics if I can track down ANY written information about them.
Maybe even Oxford, if I get the grades. Which I doubt.
The really, really ghetto one. Guess which? It starts with an "S".Quote:

Hey, Scarlem isn't that bad. I know some people who go to school there.
I just graduated from Ryerson myself, Bachelor's of Commerce degree. I have no idea what I'm going to do now, but I might end up going back to school come September if I can't find a job.
I'll be attending Binghamton University in the fall.
How is Ryerson (campus-wise)? I'll never get in, but I'd like to know what I'm missing.Quote:

Since it's downtown the campus is fairly small. It's basically between Yonge and Jarvis. You can pretty much get around the entire campus in 10 minutes, which is good. Whenever I go to other schools to visit I'm floored by how big it is. I went to CSULB with Hero and I was amazed that they had their own transit system just to get around the place.
On the other hand, its location is awesome because it's right in downtown Toronto. Being at the centre of Toronto makes it a very social place. Journalism and Fashion students have it best because there's so much to observe when on campus that they can use for their classes, although the bums begging for money at the Tim Hortons on campus is kind of unsightly. :p
I went to Wagner College on Staten Island (my hometown), which is only a mile from where I live. I lived on campus and had a great time, though very busy. Being a Music major and involved in 7 different music groups as well as running a Jazz Night, writing and arranging music, being in a few plays and being a dj at the radio station adds up.
But I didn't study toooooo much, to make up for lost time. ;)
Haven't found a steady job yet, (had a Security job for a few months, but it didn't work out) but I have made a few bucks doing a few gigs here and there. I'm planning to go back to school for my Masters, which will at least let me teach at the collegiate level, if all else fails.
I was contempltating learning how to ride and getting a bike but with my luck I KNOW that I'd kill myself or end up a quaraplegic, so I'll just stick to virtual riding.Quote:

I got a BA in History from Monmouth University in New Jersey. It was a decent school but I never really intended to go there. The school itself was nice and most of the classes I had were fine. My only gripes were that the history department was very small and the classes offered in my programme were not as diverse as I would have liked. Also, the location of the school was rather undesirable. I only ended up going there because it was a last minute thing and it was near where my parents lived. Still, I have no complaints or regrets. I learned quite a bit and I am proud of having seen it through. :)
Got my BS in Computer Science back in '98 from Northeastern Illinois University. I made the mistake of minoring in Physics and unfortunately many of the teachers in the program took their classes seriously :(. I'll be sure to never do that again...
This fall will be my 3rd year at Suffolk University. My first 2 years I was majoring in Film Studies, but I recently switched to Journalism.
Attending Tyler School of Art at Temple this coming fall.
BA in Broadcast Engineering from University of La Verne in La Verne, CA.
Some PCC (Pasadena City College) classes to prep for grad school.
One UCLA MLS class, but I had to drop out - good thing I did, too.
Ha! Staten Island sucks!Quote:

In Québec, college (CEGEP) and university are different.
Anyways ...
• Dawson College : Pure & Applied Science
• Concordia University : Hon. BSc Environmental Geography
• Université d'Ottawa : First half of an MSc in Geography (thesis: effect of climate change on forest health using remote sensing / satelite imagery)
How so?Quote:

I'm not gonna argue with you. It's not exactly an exciting place to live. But I don't think I'd like to live in Manhattan. It's just a little too fast-paced for me. Living just across the water is good enough for me.
But Seriously, going to Wagner, I was so busy with schoolwork and performances that I barely left off-campus, even on the weekends. So I almost totally lost track of what was going on here. Once I was done, I just realized how much I don't like the island. (less the borough, moreso the people)
I have one more year left at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Do not come here planning on meeting girls unless you have a car and intend to visit the nearby liberal arts colleges. RPI has about a 4 guy to 1 girl ratio and what few girls are there are A) ugly or B) ugly and think they are the shit.
Otherwise, it's a pretty decent technical school.
In Québec, highschool is 5 years (from grade 7-11). After highschool we have something called CEGEP (Collège d'Enseignement Général et Professionnel). It's basically two years of general education with programs like Fine Arts, Social Science, Health Science, Pure & Applied Science, etc. You still have to take a lot of the standard courses you would in highschool like French, English, and PE but you have the freedom and structure of university. The two years help a lot in adapting from high school to university ... lots of opportunity to party before uni. :pQuote:

You are right.Quote:

Academy of Art, SF.
If all goes according to plan I'll be done in 20 days.
When I eventually get my shit together and save a fucking ton of money, I plan on going to The JMC Music Acedemy and doing this course. The reason this course is so great is that they teach you the business side of the music as well, preparing you for long time employment in the industry. I don't really care about the accreditations, I just want to learn what they have to offer, and its an ideal location to network with other musicians, producers and managers.
My career in college so far has been bathed in bitterness, it seems that there is a mutual dislike going on, I hate college and college hates me.
I started off fresh from high school going into the University of Houston in the fall of 2000, among other big changes in my life, and had an absolute terrible duration there that lasted until the end of 2001. Academically I wasn't where I should've been and personally I was miserable so I cut my losses and left.
Then I went to Wharton County Jr College from Spring 2002 - present, and its been great, my grades are back where they should be and amazing, I'm living rent free again and life is alot happier now (note, not happy, just happier than it was - which was pretty miserable). Currently I have no idea whats going on though, I don't know where I'm going this fall - to UH or what... we'll see.
biggest regret - not traveling to Europe backpack style with Tracer after I left high school. Well... he didnt go either but still... its a mutual regret.
Last two semesters: University of Delaware.
From this September on: The College of New Jersey. Gonna take part in a new major called Interactive Multimedia, which should be kinda interesting.
I went to Southern Connecticut State University. Woo hoo!
University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
Major: Accountancy
Minor: Finance
Currently seeking either a career change or an MBA.
Green jacket, gold jacket, who gives a shit?
