Just wanted to make sure as I hadn't seen one :) Thanks.
hey Teddman, you're at A.I. in that picture aren't you? we should hang out some time.
Holy shit yes. Isn't this what plays in the first F-Zero after you finish a race and it's showing the times and what not? Really great song regardless, this stuff brings me back.Quote:

Looks like I'm two weeks late to the party, but I finally scrounged up enough cash to buy this. The second chapter in story mode was hard as balls, but man it was rewarding when I beat it. I made sure to give the Samurai a plethora of one finger salutes and curses. ;)
So far I've observed that this game has a charm similar to Super Monkey Ball. It *shock* actually makes you learn the intricacies of the courses and develop a proper strategy before you can expect success. With a few exceptions, this type of game design has been M.I.A. for quite some time. God bless Amusement Visions. :_)
heh, personally chapter 2 was the easiest for me. good luck with the rest of the chapters...especially on hard/vhard.
and on that note, anyone in southern california seeing any american ax machines? my garage yearns for more ax parts (ive done pretty much all i can do on hard mode).
Has anyone seen the AX game in Toronto yet?
I'm just itching to try that cab.
http://somethingawful.com/automatict...junk/fzero.mp3 <----- awesome.. :D
yep, played it in an arcade on yonge street, right across from sam's, just north of yonge and dundas yesterday.Quote:

any one heard anything about an official release of the AX cabs yet instead of just these test locations
i really want to play the AX machine again
Our arcades could get it, but it'll be 9000 dollars for one machine. =|

I can finally say this game is hard. I'm STILL playing Expert Sapphire and not getting 1st. Any hints to better racing?
Oh yeah, Arcade Infinity in So Cal has the cab too. So I don't think it's just a play-test situation these days.
the best advice for high-level grand prix races is to take out as many opponents as you can. by the way, the first sapphire race (big blue,) is possibly the hardest course in the game when played against the cpu, so don't feel too bad if you don't place well. just make up for it later.Quote:

Acro Lynx G-4, baby. I forgot the exact combination of parts, but it helps alot. Check the customization faq on gamefaqs, as custom ships rule in this game.Quote:

I have the same problem.Quote:

I've played it non stop for almost a week and still don't feel like I'm getting any better. I'm debating trading it in towards something else, the difficulty might actually be too high at times.
by far the easiest way to take out opponents is to use a side attack (X + left/right) as you pass a racer. try to hit the front half of their ship. instant kill.
the spin attack (z + left/right) is ok when you want to hit a bunch of racers at once, but it's very inaccurate, and you lose speed too. i barely use it.
btw Roufuss, the story mode is ungodly difficult once you hit the 3rd mission or so. if you want tickets, the best way is through the grand prix races. even if you don't place first, you still get tickets at the end of the circuit.
Yea, I'm on like mission 5, and damn it's incredibly hard.Quote:

the cab in arcade infinity is japanese unless they changed it recently.
and custom vehicles can make your life much easier for gp. course theyre useless if you want to unlock the little pilot movies. and that big blue course is evil. i settled for top 20 i think...course that was on master. didnt really have a problem with any of the cups on expert. went through all the cups on my first try except on master. go super horse z go.
The arcade version is awesome. The hydraulics work really well. It's harder to control with the steering wheel but it's still just too fun. I won a kickass vehicle with wings(can't remember the name) and one AX track so far. Can't wait to go back and try out my custom machine from my memory card.
That happened to me through most of F-Zero X, but I was ready for this one :)Quote:

It's a little shocking how the moves go from being useless to one-hit kills in your mind, but they do, trust me. You even get a little burst of speed for ramming someone just right!
The best is to boost, and, as you're boosting past them, ram them sideways real quick. Dead.
I haven't played in a while, but the last thing I did was beat the Story mode when you rescue Jody in Very Hard. I've done most of then in Normal and Hard, but Very Hard is freaking nuts.
I haven't customized ships yet, been using Falcon the whole time...

Yeah, it's red. It's a great craft. The wings spread out the faster you go, so since it behaves like a bird, it probably is the phoenix
I have to say that F-Zero GX has slowly become my favorite racing game of the twenty-first century. When it comes to the thrill of triumph, nothing, sans Super Monkey Ball and Stuntman, can surpass F-Zero GX.
Case in point: Last night I spent a three hour session trying to defeat Story Mode: Chapter 7. Beating this Chapter demands a certain level of perfection that can only be obtained via an utmost level of concentration and skill. The intensity of this mission leads me to break out in symptoms that I usually reserve for my experiences on the basketball court: sweaty palms, nervousness, and quivering. After many unsuccessful tries, I finally crossed the finish line in first place, and I literally jumped out of my seat and let loose several cries of conquest.
After plowing through a few recent cakewalks like Mario Kart Double Dash!!, Wario World, and THUG, it's truly refreshing to play a game that's not afraid to kick you square in the testicles. I'll gladly take that shot to the balls, ice ‘em down, and fight through the pain. For there is no feeling like coming back later and shoving a crowbar up the game's colon in the form of a richly deserved win. If you still don't have this game and you're a fan of the blue-collar victory, please do yourself a favor and purchase F-Zero GX.
Anybody still have it... willing to share? I know I'm late to the party, but I just got a Gamecube yesterday, with this :)Quote:

And hey while I'm posting in this thread I'll repeat that F-Zero GX Story mode is the goddamn devil.
I fucking love this game still.
Finally got this game and except for the hyper-gay postrace interview thing, I like it just fine and a hell of a lot more than F Zero X.
Anyways, I tried asking this at GAF and got nothing.
How the fuck do you snake?
How do you know you're snaking right? Do you slide at 90 degree angles or less or what? Do you just press L R L R L R L R L R L R L R L R L R L R L R L R L R L R L R L R L R L R L R L R L R as often and quiclky as possible or ... what? What do you do?
the best place to practice is with black bull on the first course. or maybe the first airopolis course. anything wide open.
you probably know this, but snaking exploits the boost of speed you get when making a right turn with a right airbrake and vice versa. so i'd assume that you should just use alternate between [right turn + right airbrake] and [left turn + left airbrake] as fast as possible. i'm not very good at it, so i can't give much advice..
So you have to use the L/R and turn in the same direction as quickly and often as possible? Jesus.
Doing that, it doesn't even sound like it should work. I'm about out of options with this game though, so I'll hafta keep trying...
Just play the game. I beat it all through regular racing, and by making new ships from parts.Quote:

heh, i was on nintendos page looking for something, and noticed they put up a video of someones aeropolis, the guy snakes like crazy, reminded me of this thread.
http://www.nintendo.com/pop_video.vm...600&height=420
and um, yeah you shouldnt need snaking for anything other than speed records. keep track of the higher ranked players and kill them off in the races, but dont get too overzealous or youll probably just kill yourself.
and if you still want to snake, i think you have to set the speed/accel thing to full acceleration. it works best with a vehicle that has good accel rating and is sorta slippy to control.
mzo and japtor = correct (especially about the death machine crap.) i managed to beat all the cups on master without snaking. it's definately not easy, but it's kinda refreshing to play a difficult game for a change.
Very true, however I still have to beat Master myself. I don't want to snake, u just need to hit every zip boost perfectly EVERY TIME.

heh. i had to unlock it by beating one of the story missions on very hard. not surprisingly, it was nearly impossible, but worth it in the end. great car.
that reminds me, making a custom car might help. the 'super horse z' made things a lot easier for me. course you cant unlock the character fmvs with custom cars, but if youre just unlocking courses its fine. search the thread for 'super horse' and there should be a bunch of posts in that vicinity about different customs.
Well I'm stuck at Story Chap 3.
I can't hit anything, because everythings faster than me once the Boosters come in.
I can't snake.
I can't come in better than 4th despite two hours of retries.
Suggestions.
snaking won't help in the story mode, as falcon's car is terrible for that sort of thing.
really, the only thing to do there is memorize the track and cut as many corners as possible. take only the worthwhile jumps that will allow you to cut more corners. boost right before going over the important jumps, as you'll be able to cut across bigger track sections. oh, and make sure your car is set up for max speed.
from gamefaqs (not too helpful, but it's been a while since i tried that chapter):story mode is a bitch and a half. especially chapter 7.Quote:
Strategy: This is very tough at first, but don't get discouraged. If you've
played hard computers by now, it should be a norm for you. But it's still very
tough and unpredictable at times. I would have to suggest going through the
course normally without trying to win just to find out where the jumps are,
for they are key to winning and the one advantage you have over the utterly
unfair computer racers. Try to take jumps at an angle so you don't have to turn
in mid-air, and I personally don't hold up or down so I can go a nice distance
with no speed reduction. Use boosts sparingly and only for jumps and long
stretches. Try to learn how the final part of the course works so you can
corner through it while boosting because the same tactic of boosting works here
as well. For the harder difficulties, I STRONGLY suggest knocking out whoever
is always in first because he seems to be the only one who can boost faster
than you. I usually start the final boosting spree when the tricky corners are
coming up, do it so that you still have some left by the time you reach the
repair stretch.
Hints: Boost sparingly, and aside from the final boosting spree, make sure the
boost is DONE before you do it again, and you won't waste health. Also, hit
the last two jumps on the course and hop over the blank spots, even though the
computer doesn't, as thats a good way to pass them near the end. Thats also
just about where you should begin your big boosting spree on the last lap. Oh
yeah, and don't give up!
So I just saw 2 episodes of the F-Zero Anime and it made me dig out GX. Still whups my ass, but I still have fun playing it. That being said, does anybody have that Soundtrack that was posted a long time ago?
Needed to wash the bad taste out of your mouth eh?Quote:
