Yes, THAT Jessica Simpson. She was a grade below me at J.J. Pearce High School in Richardson, TX. I was a member of the newspaper staff at the time before she was "discovered" and started doing albums.

I remember distinctly I was a member of the Pony Express, our school newspaper at the time, and I went with another staff member to do an interview with her. After we got there and the photographer got the set setup and we prepared to commence the inverview, the pole holding up the umbrella with the backlight on it broke. So, one of us would have to hold up the umbrella for the photographer snapping pictures while the other did the interview. The question was which would do which?

The solution was simple. We flipped a coin...and I lost :lol:

So my teammate did the interview with her and punched up the story while I stood there holding up the backlight for the photographer snapping away pictures. Pretty funny actually. After we finished I told Jessy she had a beautiful voice, and she thanked me.

I distinctly remember the article he wrote about her saying something to the effect of "great things were in store for her" and one day he hoped "everyone would hear Jessica's beautiful voice". I guess he ended up being right about that. :D

My mom was a good friend of David Twohy, director of "Pitch Black."

I'm sure this isn't what was intended by this thread, but my grandma has a really rare nervous disorder, so doctors from all over the world come to study her. Actually it's pretty sad, but somehow she doesn't mind.

My dad and his brothers(five of them) grew up with Roberto Alomar and Sandy Alomar. Those guys are pretty cool in real life. Got Roberto's autograph when he played with the Blue Jays. My dad also knows Ricky Ledee but I don't know where he is in the MLB.

I was debating on on whether I was going to say "That stupid bitch from Pete and Pete". I went the nicer route. But since you ask, he was a tool. He could be really nice when he wanted something from you, and he had a way with seeming like the best kid in the world to teachers. He would be gone for months at a time to go film though, so he was easy to forget. What's weird is, at college I actually became really good friends with his ex-gf (didn't find out she dated him until a few months after I knew her). I have no fucking clue what she saw in him (a lot to like about her though). I've heard some stories from her.

My floor's PA at Georgia Tech was on the Real World... we used to call him Superfly, but they used his real name (Matt). He's a cool guy, but came off as real boring when he was on. It was the New Orleans one, I believe.

My sister is friends with Lenny Kravitz's daughter, and he shops at my EB once in a while.

Actually, Michael Jackson and Don Francisco (of wacky spanish TV fame) have both shopped there.

And this guy I knew's uncle was Walter Mercado, the guy that does the horoscope shit on spanish TV. Real weirdo flamer.

Thanks, Schlep. Yeah, I was class of '98 and she was class of '99, graduated a year after I did and went on to stardom shortly thereafter.

I've actually kept a copy of every paper from the Pony Express while I was on staff with them, and in one of them is the story about Jessica. Unfortunately all the papers are in my room back home in Dallas so I don't have access to them right now :( But if I ever get ahold of them and can get the article scanned, I'll upload it to the net and post a link on here if anyone cares to read it :)

Funny thing about that: Jessy's father was kind of notorious as being a hardcore Baptist minister on campus who was pretty fiercely protective of his daughter. I'm pretty sure anyone who tried to fool around with her would be struck down with great vengeance and furious anger :D

I actually wouldn't be suprised if she never had a boyfriend throughout her entire time at Pearce.
