He's not directing anymore, deal with it. However, until the games start sucking, I don't care. His new position has been good for Nintendo. His influence is still felt in the games. A lot of good has come out of it and I'm sure more good will come out of it in the future. Stop being a whiney little bit...uh no, I'm not gonna go there. Your wrong. The only problem with the statement, is that he doesn't get it.

The market evolved (or regressed if you want) and the consumers drive the market, not the makers.

I got mad respect for the dude, but he needs to get with the times.

Very simple cause and effect here- anyone who "gets with the times" doesn't get my money. I know, I know, one less game sold vs thousands more bought isn't a tough equation, but the games Miyamoto would make by catering to whatever the US audience wants today aren't games I want to play.

Of course, this calls into play the difference between creating and pandering, but Miyamoto is overseeing rather than the other two options. All I know is I'm glad Miyazaki doesn't work that way.

As for Miyamoto, I think he is more important now than ever, but I wouldn't call him the current greatest game maker. Too much of what he does has to do with the business side of things, like assinging budgets to different games.

Don't be fooled into thinking Miyamoto is just some "supervisor" now. The arguments make it sound as if he's been relocated to HR and has a total hands off approach to development now (which is totally false). He still needs to approve every single aspect of every single game he's in charge of. I'm positive he's more involved than what some of you guys give him credit for. His attitude is most likely that he's not involved as much as he'd like to be and hence feels the way he does. Back when he was working on games like Donkey Kong and such, he would be drawing each and every single level, character, enemy, tile, etc on paper. Also the two people that were sent down to Retro were nothing more than liaisons for Nintendo/Miyamoto. You actually think their calling any shots over there without Miyamoto's expressed consent?!
