From the link to Van Helsing...
Sounds like a Universal monsters flick... *checks site again* yep... it's by Universal Studios... this could be extremely cheesy or turn out pretty good like the Mummy. :)Quote:
Set in the late 19th century, monster hunter Dr. Abraham Van Helsing (Jackman) is summoned to a mysterious land in East Europe to vanquish evil forces... evil forces with names like Count Dracula (Roxburgh), the Wolf Man (Kemp), and Frankenstein's Monster (Hensley).
Its from the DIRECTOR of the Mummy films. Of course it will be simular in style to Mummy, at least action wise.
Hopefully it'll be less tounge-in-cheek than the Mummy. I really want this to be very dark, grim, and gothy, with brutal action scenes. The Mummy was decent but it didn't take itself very seriously (and Mummy Returns was even worse). Van Helsing should be bad-ass.
I hope it to be dark to, but I'm sure it will be PG13, so it wont have brutal fighting of Blade films, but still can be alot of fun to watch.
I liked The Mummy since it played it middleground. It didn't take itself TOO seriously but it had the right action and such. I didn't see Mummy 2 though.
As for Van Helsing I'm really anticipating this too and I'm hoping there is less humor since the atmosphere is darker. It almost looks like Castlevania/Vampire Hunter D the movie :D
These pics got me pumped.
