Couldn't you just do a quick re-swap of the game at that point? That's how I play most of my import PS1 games. I gave up on anti-mod codes (they never work for me), so I just do a second swap midway through the load where it checks the region again or whatever it does. Works every time. Could that be the same deal for fliptop mods on those few games?

Hey, I lost a system the other day too :(

I don't want many imports. I mainly want the 3D Ages games. So as long as they are compatible I am good to go (unless Sega actually brings them out in NA, of course). We'll see. :)

Does Initial D work with a fliptop? I know people who play the game with a fliptop so hooray for that.

The fliptop does work for Initial D. I got one solely for this game and then I found out it wasn't two-player. :wtf: The biggest problem with the fliptop is accidently ripping the ribbon in half when putting on the case. I don't know what happened with yours since the ribbon is now toasted and your ps2 makes grinding noises. But you could always replace the ribbon somehow if getting your ps2 to turn on is an issue.

Yes, no 2 player (Not even system-link) is pretty shitty. Still, the game is amazing.

The power ribbon is fine. You know the plastic part that you take from the PS2 drive and put into the top of the flip top.

My dad put that in upside down when I wasn't looking.

to be dead honest, you shouldnt have been such a cheap bastard and should have instead opped for the chip. everybody i know that has had a flip top mod had has either had to buy a new system(from the fliptop mod burning out the drive) or it wont work on any of the newer games that they want(while my chipped system works like a fucking charm). 120 for a chip install vs how much for a fliptop mod and a broke ps2? yeah...huge monitary difference.
