Silent Hill 3

I beat it last night, and I just have to say that SH3 was an amazing game. Possibly my favorite SH game (though I dunno, the original was fantastic, too...). Heather was a very cool character, and I liked her little "joke" at the end. The final boss was pretty easy (didn't take long to kill him, either), however. Hell, I even beat him with the Katana! I saved the game and started a new one...got the unlimited sub machine gun, the flamethrower and the beam saber. I LOVE the Beam Saber, especially the way Heather holds her hand out all stylish-like while it extends.

BTW, I like the SH3 "Heather" shirt option she gets. I want that shirt...I dig the retro-60's style of it. Funky. :)

Can't wait for SH4...I heard rumors that it's in development...anyone hear anything?

I like Beam Saber too, except the fact that it shuts off when you get hit, and you have to star it again. You loose extra valuable time in combat because of that, but otherwise its a funky weapon. Much better than godawful chainsaw in SH2.

God wasnt very hard once you learn its patterns of attack, but since it has alot of life, it took me much longer, 3 times I fought it.

Yeah, I really want to see the UFO ending. Ever see the UFO ending in the original SH? :)

And I though the god battle at the end wasn't overall long at all. According to my rankings at the end of the game I beat him in just over 4 minutes.

Well, 4 minutes is rather long, when rest of the bosses could have been killed much faster :)

It took me about 9 minutes first time, and about 5-6 other times.

Unfortunately I never got to see UFO ending in original SH :(

Well, I've now totally finished SH3. I've gotten everything (except a few additional magazine-releases costumes), I've seen every ending, and so on.

I decided that what I needed to do was go back and replay SH2. Back when I originally played it, I played it once, and due to being a bit busy (and, at the time, having mixed feelings about the game), I never spent more time with the game. Considering the fact that I've played through the original game around seven times now, seen every inch of the game and gotten every item, that was a bit strange for me.

With as disappointed as I was with SH3, I wanted to compare it with SH2 and see if SH2 was really as bad as I once thought it was. (The problem, I'm sure, is that SH being my favorite game ever, SH2 had a LOT to live up to.)

Playing back through SH2 now, I really have to say it is the better game above SH3. SH3 has some key elements which make it feel much more like the original - the diversity of weaponry, the return of "evil rusty Silent Hill." (Yes, SH2 had the "darker" Silent Hill, and there was some rust, but it was very toned down compared to the first.) Beyond that, though, I find SH3 to be just a mess is too many ways, and for a Silent Hill game, there isn't a whole hell of a lot of Silent Hill to be found.

What needs to happen from here is that Konami needs to take the good parts from SH2 and combine them with the good parts of SH3 for the next game, or they need to resurrect the original with a beautiful and fitting remake.

im in the same boat. i played thru SH2 one time and didnt really pay attention and havnt gone back to it yet. im still saved right before the sewer boss in the 3rd game however....wonder when ill pick it up again.

That was like, the best ending in the game. The music is just awesome, and the situation itself is just so ridiculous.

Yeah I just went back and played through SH2 a couple of more times and apreciated it alot more this time around.

I wish I could see it. I dont have a real desire, nor much time to replay original SH now, even though I loved it.
