I always come away from these games with a really dirty feeling. Like I just murdered someone, who was begging for their life at my feet, by beating them with a blunt object untill all life has slipped through their open mouth.

It takes me a while to get "right" again after I've played, and I usually carry a moody funk around with me until I do.

Alright, where the hell is the damn beatstick? I don't remember it taking this long to find that thing in the first two, and here I am hours into and still running around madly because the knife sucks and I'm trying to conserve ammo. Maybe it's in a room I missed earlier, and I really hope I find it soon. It's the quinessential Silent Hill weapon!

Ummm...why is it so spoiling that you're two hours into the game?

This is, without a shadow of a doubt, the scariest book/movie/game I have ever encountered. The mannequin head scared the crap out of me, I had to pause the game and turn the lights back on to recover after that. Creeped me the hell out.

The worst part is when I know something's coming but I don't know when, and the tension just turns me into a nervous wreck. Thankfully, I now have my trusty katana to strike down evil, a welcome gift after the useless mace. Far more effective at killing the dogs (which replaced SHs birds as "The annoying enemy that really needs to be used less"), of whose presence I abhor.

Now, back to more torturing my heart.

I completely aggree. Did you do the thing in the bathroom where someone knocks back, and then the door creaks open when you go to turn away? That fucked me up so bad. I just stood there waiting for something to come and kill me. I had to go smoke a cigarette after... :(

Latest GI arrived, and while they gave the game an 8.25 most of the things they had a problem with didn't really exist. The claimed lack of movement while engaged in combat but that only pertains to certain weapons. Perhaps if they actually tried to move their character while fighting they would have realized that, yes, she actually can walk around while clubbing something to death. In fact, that's often the only way to kill most enemies without losing most of your health.

Next they bring up the puzzles and say that they're easier then the previous games. First off, no they aren't. For better or worse the level of puzzles hasn't really changed. Secondly, they neglected to mention (and judging from that comment, neglected to try as well) hard mode. A friend of mine tried out SH3 the other day with Action on Easy and Puzzles on Hard, and the very first puzzle we came to stumped both of us working together for a half hour. We decided to finally look up a FAQ because our lack of Shakespeare knowledge prevented us from properly placing a couple summaries, and we hadn't even realized there was a second half to the puzzle.

Their complaints about her robotic movement during combat are spot on, however.

It's a not that big a spoiler but, SH3 is a DIRECT sequel to SH1. SH2 just happens to take place in Silent Hill.

i really hope this one is good. silent hill was too ugly to scare me and either im really good or something else but i always had plenty of ammo and was never in a situation that i was going to die in the 2nd game. also i cant really remember any times that i jumped in either game. sure there was some disturbing looking stuff but i never so much as flinched while playing them. (yes i played in the dark alone......still didnt do much). i just miss bashing the albino babies with the lead pipe :(

been playing the euro import for some time now. dolemite your spoiler assumption is correct. you find that out right when the game really takes off. as much as im loving the game tho combat sucks and it sucks bad. hallways are usually to small to swing a melee weapon in without hitting the walls and the enemies take way to much ammo to kill.

im in the twisted version of the hospital atm and ill be dammned if i can tell where the doors are (anyone whos gottent hat far should know what i mean). they blend right into the walls.
