I find that most sci-fi channel produced movies and mini-series tend to be pretty bad, so I have little hope for this one.
Of note is that Commander Adama is played by ol' pock-face himself, Edward James Olmos, and Starbuck and Boomer are now women.

I might give it a try.
Hopefully, despite casting Starbuck as a woman, they'll remain true to the spirit of the character otherwise, and make Starbuck a complete slut. That'll make the series interesting.
Wow. Are they gonna focus in on the pilot pushing the button that fires missiles every other scene just for nostalgias sake ;).

If anyone missed it, one of the stars of this began talking about how absolutely horrible any of the older fans would find this new one. It was apparently during a press conference, where he suddenly went on a huge point-blank rampage, discussing how it would be sub-par to that which came before for any who liked the prior and to be ready for disappointment.
He said that he wasn't aware of the older series until he after he was hired for this, and the marketing people present were certainly not happy with him. There was an article on this in my local paper today, and while I personally don't care about the series I found brutal honesty like that to be immensely appealing and I applaud him. Damn near makes me want to watch it (how's that for irony?).

The guy who wrote the article, obviosly never watched the original Battle Star Galactica. The show did'nt last only one season. I believe it was more like 3.

I saw an ad for this on my local Scifi/fantasy station (SPACE, not Sci-Fi -- we also get it a month later. :( ). Holy freakin' christ it's looking pretty good. I'm sure many of you that get Sci-Fi channel and have seen ads for it already, but if not there's some online at scifi.com's mini-site for it.
I'll tell you one thing, that guy gets some mad respect for saying that. I wonder what happened to the Sci Fi channel? At one point it was actually a quality network...Oh how the mighty have fallen..
