I just finished beating Advance Wars so I can get to playing AW2, and I have a question. According to the walkthroughs at Gamefaqs, there's supposed to be a level 22 ("Rivals", where you're supposed to fight Eagle) after level 21 ("The Final Battle" against Strum), yet the game ended after level 21 for me. The FAQs didn't mention any special conditions that had to be met to get access to level 22...anyone know what's up? I finished the overall game with a B rank, if that's any help.

If you do this, you go on to the Rivals mission, and if you beat it you can unlock Eagle as a playable CO.
Ah- thanks a lot. I'll need to play through it a second time anyway to unlock all the COs. :)
You may as well just "Advance" to AW2. Why bother a 2nd playthrough when the superior sequel is waiting for you?
another nice thing about the sequel is that the bonus cos are much easier to unlock.
Hachi is as hard to get in 2 then Nell was in 1, which are the only two co's that are hard to get in either of their respective games.Quote:

what i meant is that you don't need a faq to figure out how to get the majority of the aw2 COs. in aw1, you have to do certain missions with certain COs, with no indication that it would have any bearing on who you would eventually unlock. the requirements in aw2 are much more logical.Quote:

Yeah, I mostly just stuck with Andy in AW1, not realizing that you needed to play certain missions as Sami or Max to unlock certain COs.

To be honest, I'd recommend just starting up AW2. It's much easier to unlock COs (you get them as you play, rather than having to beat the game) and the requirements are a lot less arcane.Quote:

But if you want to unlock all COs on AW1, here are the requirements:
Grit: Choose Max on Mission 4.
Kanbei: Beat the game.
Sonja: Finish Kanbei's missions in 6, 8, and 12 days, and then beat the three Sonja missions that follow.
Eagle: (see earlier post)
Drake: beat all the Green Earth missions using Andy.
Sturm: unlock all previous COs.
Nell: unlock Sturm and finish Advance Campaign.
