Argh that sucks, I suppose that special forces guys are mainly taken from new recruits who came in at age 18 or so. Well... its been some months since that happened it seems so you've probably had some time to deal with it. There was a future before the military option came along and there will be a future now that it is gone.Quote:

So...ummm...yeah, the Army basically tried to bend me over and stick it to me.
Highly dissapointing day, which I'll expound upon later.
Okay, so I go to take my physical today, leave at 4 AM.
Shitty thing #1: You can't smoke anywhere, and if you go outside to do it, you have to start all over again.
Shitty thing #2: By the time I did my hearing test, my stomach was rumbling so much, I coundn't hear shit.
So, I'm worried that I'm going to fail this physical, but I don't. I pass with 1's in 5 areas (1's are best) and a 2 in sight. My eyes suck, what can I say.
After that, they make you get fingerprinted, and then talk to a counseler or, more accurately, a 'closer'. This is the guy that when you buy a car, he closes the deal. Cue high pressure tactics.
Okay, so this Special Forces Age Waiver, which was '80% likely' then 'you pass your physical you'll get it' goes to 'Denied' pretty quick. It was dissapointing, but, at the same time, I can understand. Still, since that was a certanty, I didn't pick a plan B.
So, then I'm thinking 'Okay, I'll go home, think about another job and then come back'. Ummm...no.
They want me to sign the contract today. Right now, sign.
Ummm...what? Somewhere along the line the recruiter seemed to forget that info.
From there, it goes to shit:
Can I see this contract, take it home and then come back?
No, only if you sign it.
I don't have another MOS (job), what should I do?
Just sign up for anything, and maybe you can get your waiver later.
Hells no.
Can I go Ranger?
You can go Ranger in September if you want.
Doing what?
Openings for Culinary Arts and Logistics.
Soo....cook or clerk?
Basically.
Hells no.
#1, I'm not signing anything today.
That really sends them over the edge and they start to pass me up the chain to more important Officers and closers. Still, I'm not signing up for something I don't want.
Then they tell me to pick 3 jobs I want to do, and that I'll likely get 1 of those for sure. Umm...wtf?
So, bottom line.
I've passed my physical and can go in.
I need to pick another job if I'm going to do it.
I think there's a 10% chance I'll go in the Army.
It really felt like the old bait and switch and that I was told completly different things by the recruiter.
PFC. M. Van Stone, Cook...
FUCK THAT!
