MVS choices, choices...

I'm new to the PCB/MVS scene. I had Dangun Feveron on "layaway", but I didn't realize that Netvigator.com had a three day waiting policy, so my highly anticipated Cave shooter is in some bastard's hands now. I hope it's a fake.

Regardless, I have 100.00 credit to spend and none of the PCB's interest me, so I'm gonna go after an MVS or two. I narrowed it down to these.

Aero Fighters 2
Aero Fighters 3
Blazing Star (Heavily leaning towards)
King of Fighters 95-2002
Shock Troopers
Shock Troopers 2
Ninja Master
Metal Slug X
Last Blade 2

Basically I like action and shooters. Which is the best King of Fighters? And do I need an MVS of Metal Slug X when I have part 2 and 3 already? Does Ninja Masters suck ass? How are Shock Troopers.

Any help would be great.

if you can get your hands on it, i'd go with shock troopers, just because i can't seem to find it anywhere.

Shock Troopers 1 is supposed to be fantastic. Shock Troopers 2 is supposed to be quite good. I'd go with ST1.

I think KOF '98 is the best, or maybe '97. The only one i haven't played is 2002. Personally, I'd go with Blazing Star out of that list. But for a cheap MVS cart, you can't beat Blues Journey.

Metal Slug X = The best 'slug game. Best level length, difficulty just overall "fun" imho.

If you don't mind your KoF games a little sparse on story, go with KoF'98.

LB2 is also a great game, though, if you don't have a KoF, I'd say get one of them first.

LB2, KOF '98, Blazing Star! :)

Get Blazing Star first. You won't regret it :D

Other must haves (IMO):

Zupapa (single screen platform action - I love it)
Magical Drop 3 (best puzzle game ever :D)

I second the Shock Troopers and Zupapa recommendations :)

You can't really go wrong with KoF98 or Blazing star either..

Last Blade 2 is the best fighter ever in my opinion. But Blazing Star is amazing if your into shooters, replay value up the wazoooo.

You absolutely have to get Blazing Star. It is the greatest shooter on the Neo by far, and easily one of the all time best. After that I'd recommend either Metal Slug X or Last Blade 2. Personally I think X is the best of the MS series... and Last Blade 2 is still one of the greatest fighting games ever.

KoF '98 or 2002. Good luck finding 2002 for less than 100, though. :)

Of what you listed, Shock Troopers, Blazing Star, and Aero Fighters 2 are all good.

Aero Fighters anything - Passable.
Blazing Star - Sure.
KoF '98. Mai's packed with moves.
Skip Shock Troopers 2 in favor of the original.
Ninja Master - Not sure.
Metal Slug X - Yes. Dump MS2 for this. It's on par / above MS3, even.
Last Blade 2 - Sure.

Please tell me you already own Pulstar. It is so much better than Blazing Star.

Last Blade 2 and Blazing Star. Cant go wrong with them.

Pulstar is a love/hate thing. I really don't like it much because of the rather heavy memorization parts in it, but if you like the R-type games you'll certainly appreciate Pulstar.

I have to agree. Then again, I'm a huge fan of "checkpoint" style respawing. Both are great games, but I give Pulstar the nod.

Well, sadly Zupapa and Pulstar are not availiable. I've decided to go with Blazing Star and Shock Troopers.

Ninja Commando is on the list but I've never really heard anything about the game.

I've never play Metal Slug 2 (My Nova system was delivered yesterday and was found to be defective, so I had to send it back today), so I'm gonna chill on MSX until I've had my fill of MS 2+3.

Meh...I vote for shock troopers.

Can we all agree to get Aerofighters 3 off that list? 2 is MUCH better.

You're covering a wide variety of genres there, to compare Ninja Masters to Blazing Star to Metal Slug X just doesn't work.

If I had to pick only one...<scratches head>....<um>...

I wasn't really comparing genres. I took what looked to me like the cream of the crop and asked which ones you guys dug. Sure, it wasn't orderly but these situations rarely are.

Metal Slug X is the best game there IMO. You do have MEtal Slug 2 and 3 though, so I'd go with one of the shock troopers games. Probably the best overhead action shooter since Mercs. Not as crazy as Mercs or Alien Syndrome were for their time though.

Does anyone really need to hear me rant about Last Blade 2 anymore?

Anyway... you should get Twinkle Star Sprites too. ecause it will rock your ass off.

Get Metal Slug X because it is the best one in the series (especially for score). But uh...just save your money and find Dangun Feveron anyway cause that game is so damn great.
