He was brought back to life the same way Charlie's been running around some of the latest SF titles. It's a plot paradox. :pQuote:

several possiblities:
1) Geese liked Elvis (Geese is the master of ressurection... or at least falling off buildings and surviving).
2) It's his twin brother, Saxi (Maxi was always jealous that his brother had a better name so had locked him away until this time)
3) Cloning strikes again! And again! Damn those NESTS bastards!
4) He's an alien who really likes the idea of kung fu Elvis.
5) He really is Elvis.
Xianghua's ending was most likely the "real" ending of Soul Calibur, since that's the first time the namesake sword appeared in the game. Let's assume that in Xianghua's ending, no one died :)
I think they may have just screwed up the story. In the trailor for SC too, they have the sword looking like it did in Inferno's ending when it was turned Evil. I hope Namco reconsiders this because I liked the design of the good for of the sword. Also, I want to be able to play with the thing in more than just one battle.
Official storyline (from Game Watch)
Maxi was fighting Astaroth, but the ground gave way underneath him, and he got trapped in an under ground cave. (Asta's god's power waned, and Asta was sucked back to the God's dimension, but Maxi only got on the fringe of the hoover action and was merely sucked unto an underground cave) When Kilik and Xianghua caught up with where they'd seen Maxi last, all they found was his nuncheaku, and assumed he had been killed, but they had no other evidence to go on.
Maxi didn't do much to dispel rumors of his demise because his injuries had taken their toll, and he was unable to move. A local villager found him, and took him back to his town and cared for Maxi until he recovered several months later. Maxi decided to settle down in the town because it was such a peaceful and carefree life there. (Compared to pirating off Japanese shores, and getting sucked into under ground caves I guess)
Then four years later, the villagers began to hear disturbing rumors of a evil man who was leaving nothing but death in his wake, even going so far as to level entire towns. Maxi overheard that it was a large man wielding an axe, and he suspected Astaroth, (who he thought he had killed) Maxi started nosing around the countryside, and found more evidence and eyewitnesses who confirmed Maxi's suspicions. It was Astaroth. So Maxi leaves the peaceful town to resume his quest for vengence against the purple demon. He also found out that he'd been cured with a fragment of Soul Edge while he was preparing to leave in search of Asta...

Well, I certainly hope the original costumes are unlockable, because the more I see of the new ones, the more I hate them. I swear, it's like Nomura's eye for complete lack of fashion sense is sweeping into other companies... Siegfreid looks cool, though.
Damn...
I can't wait for this game...
I think a few of the 2P costumes are pretty cool. Mitsurugi's reminds me a bit of Haohmaru's (Samurai Spirits) because of the black and white color scheme. Voldo's looks very... Italian? Which makes sense. Maxi's looks better than his SC 2P one. Talim's reminds me a lot of Ellis' (Toshinden) 2P costume, for some reason. Cassandra's is probably my favorite of the lot.
Does anyone else think Astaroth's costume with the purple mask and tails looks silly? One thing I really hope this game has is for clone characters (like Sueng Mina and Kilik) to have totally different styles of fighting. They are fine as they are, and just a bit more difference in their moves would be fine, but I'm hoping everyone in this game is totally unique. I mean, how many completly new characters are there? The rapier guy is unique, and is there anyone else totally new? Two other new characters are clones of Hwang and Sophitia respectively. Plus, Hwang and Xiangphau share styles, if there is a new character who fights just like them, then that means 3 characters are using the same style, and i think that is overkill. The same goes for the Sophitia clone, because Sophitia and Lizardman have the same style.
Cassandra is the Sophie clone, right? What's up with her looking like Link's sister or somthing?
