Otogi: Myth of Demons **Official**

I didn't really beat him per se, just damaged him enough so that he ran off.

When you start the level, if you run straight ahead past the center clearing and go under the bridge, there's an Attack Increase upgrade. I grabbed that, ran around in a circle until the worm charged straight at me, then double jumped into his oncoming path and hit him in the mouth with a heavy attack. After three successful hits (actually six with the twin scimitars), he said something about being able to see into my heart, then bailed.

My main problem with that level was I kept getting nailed by random bolts of lightning = instant death.

Ammadeau - yeah, level 11 is the forest with all those floating eyeball-fan things. I'm looking forward to retrying that level to see how high I can combo.

I've gotten into the habit of after totally destroying a level's environment, going back and running through it as fast as I can to see how quickly I can do it. It's amazing how quick you can get a level done after everything else is complete.

I tried using the Locust Sword, but I don't like it at all. I don't like the Twin Dragons either. I'm doing my best to get a deul whield weapon for comboing, but the Twin Flash costs quite a bit of caish.

Post catipillar I charged forward and cleared as many levels as I could without going back, then I hit the fire level and got creamed. The demons block most of your attacks and when I did hit I did almost no damage. Level up time. :)

I'm using sword of binding for main levels and the silver and gold twin blades for going back to get those nice combos. I also like the warhammer because it's dash hard attack feels like baseball. Demon comes up and I knock it right out of the field.

It's very rare that I play a game with no flaws, either in some odd gameplay decision or a myriad of bugs.. but this game really has no flaws. I stopped minding the camera like three hours ago and I'm still stunned by the lack of slowdown. Replace Raiky with a sexy female lead like they're doing for the new Shinobi and I would rate it the best game ever. :p

The final room where the enemies just keep pouring in. I had a 67, then 97, then 198 so 300+ easily. I wouldn't be surprised if you could get 500 using a weak weapon, but I know my hand would wear out long before I hit that.

People have stopped playing this already? Guess collecting all those weapons in SC2 must be terribly interesting. :p

Since my computer exploded over the weekend (taking my HD with it... grrr) I put a lot of time into this and got up to the second to last level where I promptly got my ass kicked. Have a ton of weapons now, all but two magics (lightning 3 is deadly) and missing only two accessories (though I know how to get one of them). The low gravity level was really great. I wish you could put that option on for all levels, complete with the visual distortion that's like Nafalgar's Pit in Gunvalkyire.

I haven't stopped...I'm just getting started. I had to take a break so I could take my family on a quick vaction. Now, back to Otogi...

I love how the game keeps track of your environmental damage. There's nothing like going back to a level and seeing complete devastation. Heh.

From has always been pretty decent in the character design dept, imo, but when did they get so good at designing levels? Most of the stages I've played are close to brilliant, with varying objectives, and a real challenge on the destruction component. Great game, From.

I haven't stopped either. :)

By the way, how is one supposed to know when it's time to "repair" a particular weapon? Haven't done it yet (about 9 stages in), and haven't seen anything to suggest I should have...

Well, your weapon takes damage during every level. The longer you wait the less damage you deal out with it, & the more it costs to repair. your weapons are probably bottomed out, dealing the least damage they can. I try to repair my stuff after each level, that way it only costs 400-700 gold to do it.

Each weapon has a vitality meter, which you can see under it's details. Each weapon loses vitality at different rates. The neat thing is lowering a weapon's vitality will naturally make you do higher scoring combos. I tried doing the forest 400 combo thing and I couldn't do it because the twin axes I found there were doing too much damage. :sweat:

Raiko's main weapon is pricy to repair, so I'd say don't bother using it. It's not as good as the weapons you get mid-way through anyway. Right now I'm using Black Swallow (or is it Sparrow?) which is twin blades that do more damage than any other weapon I have. No special properties though and I think my DEF is lower because of them.

Soon as I clear second to last, I'm going to work on getting 100% of all the souls so I can get the special sword and beat the final baddy in under a minute. :)
