I couldn't stop smiling and saying 'oh shit this is GOOD' to myself whilst playing ESPgaluda last night :) I like it because it's hard but not stupidly hard like DOJ. The bullet patterns are so satisfying and it's up there with DDP and ESPrade as my favourite Cave shooters. I just love making the bullets go stupidly fast by messing around with kakusei mode and still coming through unscathed, it just feels soooooooo good :DQuote:

Another quick note about the 3rd stage 1up. If you don't think you have enough gems to stay in purple Kakseui long enough to release it, release it with a guard barrier laser blast. I've messed up and entered that section with zero gems, killed the two turrets to the side of it, and quickly hit guard barrier and the laser blast always gets it out. Not the best use of your energy but it is better than no 1up.
Yet more 1up info: ANY damage you deal to it in Kakusei will release it. I think it is better to release it with rapid shots if you're using Ageha; it seems to be based on damage done, and his laser is way too wide to be effective for quick removal of the 1up. Obviously with Tateha you're probably better off with the laser.
Don't know if this was mentioned or not, but if you leave the screen orientation to yoko and switch to tate it'll alter the controls to make it play like a horizontal shooter. I did this by accident yesterday and took me a little while to figure out what the heck was going on.
Incredible game, though for some reason I always end up playing when I should be sleeping so the awareness I need to get a decent score is never with me.
This is what I've been doing. I'd prefer it if you guys could put strategy discussion and info in the Score Attack thread (even if you're not posting scores), it'll make it easier to find the info when this thread is buried 8 pages deep.Quote:

Basically, the some of the explosions sound like they are muffled out in my game when they aren't supposed to be. Fortunately, the boss explosions are still full in their intensity which leads me to wonder if this is the result of a porting error. One thing to note is that I don't have any kind of sound system. I fit under the "poor student" category and couldn't afford to deck myself out with something good, so I depend entirely on the TV speakers. Nonetheless, in all of my games in recent memory, I've never had a noticeable problem with missing sounds.
One last annoying thing (and this is being nitpicky) is the presense of a 2-3 second long high pitched noise at a certain stage of the normal stage 1 BGM. I wasn't able to hear this in any videos I watched of stage 1 and also wasn't able to sample an mp3 of it, so I wasn't entirely sure if it was supposed to be there or if there might be some kind of problem with my game. Either way, it sounds pretty stupid and almost ruins the entire song. All of the other songs in the soundtrack are very cool, however, and basically sound fine on my system.
I kind of hope that the reason for why some sounds are muffled and others sound awkward in this game is due to my absense of a real sound system rather than there being something up with my game. I'm pretty sure I have a legit copy from Lik-Sang - NTSC-J.
I also use a swap-disk technique via a very irritating, barely functional push-button fliptop mod (requires me to apply pressure to the top of the console to get it to work), so maybe that has something to do with it. I'm going to attempt to install a DMS3 before too long... Maybe that will fix something.
Keep in mind that there are naturally going to be some differences between the audio coming out of your speakers and compressed audio for internet distribution. And I can't recall hearing any high pitched tones.
