High School for Gays in NYC.

theres a local school that had an article in the paper. apparently they have "gay zones" which are areas free of "prejudice". they're marked with these dumb triangle stickers. the gay people who are getting made fun of can go there and "retreat" and not have to worry about anymore ridicule. okay, if they WERE being rediculed the said offenders would just wait until after they leave and start again and really nobody cares if you hump men or women, especially at that school. its just dumb. i feel the more attention they draw to themselves the worse they actually make it. it wasnt even an issue before but to go to an extreme like this and have "safety zones" is just beyond words.

The thing about channels like BET and Lifetime; is that they are trying to have a place for minorities to have the representation that they do not recieve in normal network environments. In a regular high school however, gay children are educated equally. Many people risked their lives for equal oppurtunity integration into schools. This just kicks sand in the faces of those who risked their asses to make a place for all Americans.

Imean am I wrong here people?

How are they gonna prove a student is gay and meets the criteria, they could be confused.

Considering that homosexuality was only recently taken issue in the Supreme Court, I'd say so.

The Civil Rights movement didn't do anything about homosexual's (etc), though that certainly isn't any failing of it's own making.

Perhaps this is thier small way of getting their 'agenda', as someone put it, noticed and adressed.

I disagree. Next we need to have seperate schools for the blacks, the jews, and the asians. We need to go back to the 1890s, people!

Gay people go about the wrong ways to get noticed. Most of the little "parades" they throw are ridiculous, insulting, and just...ugh. For many gay kids that would be attending this school, it would just be an excuse to fuck around with as many of the kids as possible. Trust me on that one.

This has horrible idea written ALLLL over it.

if thier goal is to create a safe learning environment free of ridicule they should be shipping all the assholes who do the harassment out, not the gay people.

Yeah, the problem with "normal" public schools is that the kids practically get away with murder. There should be strict rules about harrassing others, and the punishments should be a lot more harsh. In my HS, I used to see kids being called fatasses right in front on teachers, and the teacher would do nothing.

They should make a Lesbian or Bi-Girl College.

Seriously, membership (at least for a semester or 3) would go through the roof, considering the instinces of that sort of thing amoung 18-22 year old women.
