Video Card Problems
ok, mvs just hooked it up with a 64MB Geforce 2 card, just popped it in, and well, im seeing little tiny spots here and there, and when i scroll up and down on websites, it's choppy.
any idea's on how to fix this? i just popped it in, so these are the only problems i know of so far, gonna play some Counterstrike and see what's up with that.
anyways, any help would be appreciated.

Gah! I can't think of what it's called that you need to fix, but I had the same problem and LHaddat told me what to do, so just ask him.
-edit: is it the refress rate you need to bump up to like 80 or something?
-
im gonna download the drivers, didn't think about that til recently.
-
Drivers. Come back if there's problems after that. :)
-
ok well, did the windows update, and installed drivers. still seeing dots.
by the way, counter strike chugged like a bitch, gonna give it anotehr go now that i installed everything.
ok, now my computer is going ape shit.
here are some examples. i got this error after i closed Counter Strike.
and this is what my computer looks like now....
-
I had 0 problems with the card and never any spots.
No clue, man, it worked for me perfectly.
-
i'll just kris on it. that should solve all of my problems.
-
Pretty much. That would by my first choice on who to see about any PC shit.

Why not do a reformat?? Its always the best thing to do when putting in a new video card.
You could use a program called Driver Cleaner to wipe out any traces of any old drivers you had. Once you use that program then you can install the latest Nvidia drivers. The 60hz refresh rate issue with nvidia cards and XP doesnt cause dots or choppiness. Your problem is either driver issues or a screwed card.
Here's where you can get Driver Cleaner if you want to try it:

Ray brings up a good point, ALWAYS remove the old drivers before installing a new card.
Also, how many watts is your power supply?
-
You used the Windows Update drivers? Bad Lucas! Those aren't the drivers you want. :)
Use the drivers from the manufacturer. In this case, go to http://www.nvidia.com/ and get the latest Detonator drivers. Try those and let us know how it goes.

i installed both the nvidia, and windows update. but like i said guys, no more worries, i'll just get kris on it and that'll be the end of that.

Does it have a fan? I remember my old Geforce1 gave me the same problems and it took me a week to realize that the fan stopped working on it and it was overheating itself. Even if it doesn't have a fan it could still be a temperature problem.

My last video card's fan actually melted and it didn't give me any problems..
