I think it looks cool as fuck, especially considering the platform.
i get an error. from what i hear the technology is unbelieveable. i think theyre really showing it off at some playstation event in august. is it a fps tho? i didnt think it was and i dont know why it keeps getting proclaimed as a halo killer if it isnt. because on graphics alone a lot of other games kill halo but dont use it as a buzzword.
Oh right... I forget how GAF doesnt like links to thier stories directly, lemme try to put up a pic or something...

looks pretty good. i like the lighting in the first and last shot.
Yeah, I personally wouldn't call it a Halo killer. I'm not a big fan of that line of thought when it comes to design. I just remembered it being touted as that by various sites, so I figured I would throw that up there in the sub title. Anyone remember what the original name of this game was? Kin or something like that?
lucas-guerilla games and lost boys games
and yeah kin was the first name
Lookin' good. I can't stand the Dual Shock for FPSs though. I hope it supports those USB ports for mouse/keyboard.
If it looks like that in motion, color me impressed. Doesn't look like a PS2 game at all. Time to keep an eye on this one.
That what I wanted to say, but you said it first. Damn, this game shapes up to be quite a looker. Nice models full of details, cool suits and weapons. Me definately like.Quote:

And HL/HL2 is just that mighty.
This looks decent, obviously need more info, but not bad.
this is all i know about this game its being developed by guerilla games formerly known as Lost boys it s gonna be published by SCEE it almost certainly has online play four playable characters and will have the sci-fi
feel of halo game journalists who saw it in action are the ones calling it a halo kller
any one excited about this like me
"Multiplayer, however, will take a mighty impressive game."
Co-op aside, Timesplitters 2 already does that, as far as console games go.
edit: better throw an IMO before the lamers drop in
Is it coming to PC? Probably not, damned shame to waste it on console.
Looks pretty. That smart-rifleesque gun looks quite nifty, like something that should be able to tear up a platoon like paper.
Periods and sentences are overrated. Long live the run on!Quote:

But it still looks pretty fresh :) Very very impressive for the PS2, I just hope it plays as well as it looks.
never the less this has lots of competition halflife2, doom3,halo2,rainbow6................................................................. ..
blah lots of fps games comin out onxbox so this is the only counter measure for ps2 in the fpsmarket
At first that valley shot looked too good, but looking closer it seems like something the PS2 could pull off. Awesome.
Looks good to me. I would have to agree that I HATE the dual shock for FPS games. I hold my own just fine in Socom, but I think I'd do a hell of a lot better using the fatty xbox controller.
Those outdoors environments are wicked rad! I hope a lot of the game looks like that! The guys themselves looks really cool as well, and are kinda creepy with the red eyes and all. If this game plays well I will be all over it. But the whole "command" teamates has to be done just right and not overly complicated or I will lose interest.
I don't think you command your team at all. I've never played a team based fps before, but I'd imagine it'd get really intense trying to keep everyone alive. Or you'd inevitably get frustrated with your stupid AI team mates and quit the game.
I'm getting a nice Jin-Roh vibe from the way those soldiers look in the last shot there. Cool as hell looking overall.
Does a Jin-Roh vibe put you into a catatonic stupor, or was that just me? :(Quote:

Yeah lets hope it does'nt play like Jin Roh, I don't want to fall asleep while playing a game like I did watching that boredom on a DVD.
from the official Playstation site:

Finally, the phoney war is over. For over a year now we've been sworn to secrecy. Forced to bite our lips as the rumour mill went into overdrive. As far back as April last year, we knew that Guerrilla Games (then known as Lost Boys Games) was working on an apparently groundbreaking shooter with the working title of Kin. Today we can confirm that the game is very much a reality. It's called Killzone. We've seen it. And it looks like the absolute bomb. Killzone is set in the near future. Mankind is busy colonising the galaxy when a vicious interplanetary war breaks out between the ISA (which is still loyal to Earth) and a militaristic faction know as the Helghast. Despite the sci-fi premise, we aren't expecting to see any outlandish aliens scampering across the battlefield. Killzone is based on 20th Century warfare, with a total of 21 weapons in the game - again based on modern technology rather than neon-hued lasers - each with a secondary fire function. The term 'killzone' actually refers to a military tactic used to force enemies into an area where they can be easily wiped out. The single-player game tells the story of four ISA soldiers who are operating deep behind enemy lines on a near suicidal mission. It's thought that the game begins in the immediate aftermath of a devastating Helghast attack. Earlier this year OPS2 was shown a video of in-game action. In one set piece the ISA squad is pinned down in a derelict building and surrounded by the Helghast. Caught in a killzone, basically. To make matters considerably worse, more stormtroopers abseil in from the Aliens-style dropship hovering overhead. Within seconds the bullets are flying and jaws are dropping. Each of the game's 26 levels will include at least two such show-stopping moments. At the start of the game you will be able to choose to play as any of the four ISA, each of whom has different abilities ranging from a female stealth specialist to a burly heavy weapons expert. During gameplay the other three soldiers will provide fire support. However, to preserve the narrative they can't be killed, but will retreat to safety once badly wounded. Your character will also be protected by an energy shield which recharges provided you can stay out of harm's way for a few seconds. What really looks impressive about Killzone though - other than the teeth-rattling bark of the assault rifles and the lush, richly detailed environments - is the sense of being caught in the middle of a massive conflict. We watched soldiers wading through shallow rivers, coshing each other with rifle butts (just wait until you see the glorious reload animation as you slap another magazine in) and manning fixed machine gun emplacements. Oh, and the sniper scope looks particularly creamy, as do the diffuse lighting effects, originally pioneered by Ico. Rounding off an already explosive package is the promise of full online play. As for the visuals, there are several cinematic influences, with Starship Troopers and, inevitably, Aliens being the most obvious. Certainly the body armour worn by the ISA soldiers is instantly reminiscent of James Cameron's bug hunting epic. The gritty style also suggests the art team at Guerilla has been watching a lot of Black Hawk Down. We also reckon there must be a 2000AD fan at the Netherlands-based developer because there definitely seems to be a hint of Rogue Trooper too. Here's what Martin de Ronde, Commercial Director at Guerrilla Games, had to say about the announcement, "All of us here at Guerrilla have been overwhelmed by the initial response to the first screenshots of Killzone that were released today and the positive comments flooding the forums have delighted the team. Development for the game is now well under way and both SCEE and ourselves are excited about the way the game is shaping up. Everything you have seen so far is real-time and not taken from a pre-rendered sequence and you can expect to see regular updates from SCEE over the coming months." For now, gaze at the first ever genuine screenshots. You're looking at the future.
me and fellow gamers shall be the judge of that what i want is to this gamei n motion
Does anyone think Killzone will have a co-op mode, like Halo? maybe even 4 player co-op mode, so that all ur 4 teammates are human-controlled? Now that would be sooo cool! As far as I've seen, the game looks absolutely awesome.
Just read Lucas' post and my interest has skyrocketed. No aliens? Thank god. I can't stand fighting a bunch of generic poorly designed aliens/monsters (a la Halo) in shooters.
You do know that PS2 only has 2 controller ports right?Quote:

Has anyone else heard that the headset thing from SOCOM will be used in this game? I hope they don't, cause i don't want to look like a lunatic talking to the TV. I just want the teammates to be totally AI controlled so i don't have to worry about them.
but still, a 2 player co-op would be awesome like Halo and Timesplitters 2
co-op seems nice but i want geo-mod ......its weird that they didnt mention a us release date
new mag scans but they still look good
more.......
....
Its amazing thats even PS2.
one more
got some new info right here

Shame, I'm not into fps games but I might check it out.Quote:
