But here's the most alarming part about living in a multiverse. If the cosmos is more or less infinite in scale, then statistical probabilities dictate that somewhere there's a planet identical to Earth, containing creatures identical to us, leading identical lives. We don't buy it. Could there really be another world where Adam Sandler is a movie star?
I remember thinking the exact same thing when I was a child. Just a huge repeating pattern in all directions. And so whenever humans ended up meeting aliens in space( I think I thought it would be around this century or something. -_o ), they'd bump into themselves flying over to meet themselves.yeah
Crisis on Infinite Earths, exactly what I was thinking about.Quote:

I always just thought the univers was infinate. I just don't see how it could end, I mean what happens if you ever reached the end? Would you just a hit a wall, or you will all of a sudden just begin to fall? I don't think the mysteries of space will ever be solved in our lifetime or even by man (we'll probly nke the planet in some war before that happens).
It was posted this month?!
The Multi-verse theory has been huge among quantum physicists for years! This is old news.
Just read the article. It's about how big the universe is, the parallel universe theory is just one that could apply if it's true.
So does this mean we are gonna find aliens out there?
can i ask you what the front cover of the natl geograhpic looks like - or better yet is it the July issue? If so I'm too late to grab it then... our store prolly has the august issue.
It's the new one, it has an Indian dude's face on the cover.
Granted, what was written here doesnt add anything to the multiverse theory, but things are being tweaked and changed and challenged and added all the time to theories. To simply challenge it, saying that it isnt real science, or that its old is ignorant.
My guess is that someone at NG got a whiff of the new M-brane theory thats floating around. It's a theory that is more so working tword the unified field theory than the multi-verse theory. But it includes a multiverse as apart of its theories.
Pretty much it comes down to the universe consisting of these M-branes which gravity can pass through, but the other forces cannot. Which would go a long way into explaining why gravity is the weakest of the forces... its dissipated throughout all the universes, where as the other forces are stuck withing thier own, and much more concentrated and stronger.
Thats what I assumed the article was talking about without reading it fully, which was ingorance on my part. It also ties into Super String theory, which I find facinating. If anyone that likes this subject hasnt read a book by Michio Kaku, I suggest you do so. He explains complicated Quantum Physics very easily and plainly. His books are really what started me on this kind of stuff.
