Fellow Floridians in public school: The dreaded day nears
Remember the days of old, where Labor Day marked the beginning of school? Well, today's generation (at least in FL) is not allowed to appreciate this fabled period which used to be three months.
Ah yes, Florida, "The Sunshine State." What better way to enjoy those lazy hours of summer bliss than going back to school?
Tonight I started my third and final book required to read for English, a play, Raisin in the Sun. Judging by the time I actually started the book--and finished the other two (about a week ago)--I can feel the curse coming upon me already. For you slow ones; procrastination. It allowed me to excel in 3 or 4 projects last year with flying colors, although I don't know what its effectiveness will be this school year.
I would also like to give a warm farewell to the beloved block scheduling. Our county superintendent has ousted it in favor of the more traditional schedule (every class, every day) in an effort to homogenize the five high schools within the district. It will be greatly missed, as it greatly complimented my slacker attitude of putting almost everything off 'till the last minute (creating a few sleepless nights printing out reports and such).
I end my sob story with a quite:
"I will stop procrastinating tomorrow" - someone
