Wow. I never wanted to be that guy who comes into a thread and has nothing nice to say.
This game looks really really boring. Unique doesn't equal good. Sure it's good to try new things and nice to see developers giving oddball concepts a go (and I think the cover art fits this game to a tee) but can there not be more substance? Sure, I'm as tired of the 'feudal japan fantasy hack-n-slash DMC clones' as the next guy. I'm damned sick of the premise of 2/3 of all japanese games (here) being "demons, kill them," but SURELY there's something else (besides saving the goddamned princess... probably from demons) we can do in a game. I know the same can be said of western games, such as generic-military-types in generic-military-situations be it in the past present or future where the only diffrences are if you can sneak around, drive vehicles or command a squad of bad AI... who knows maybe you can punch the enemies too but reguardless. Games in general seem so stupid and repetitive sometimes. When I was 12 I was bouceing on non-threatening-looking retard monsters/robots/monster-robots heads. Now I'm killing Nazis for the umpteenth time, air-comboing demons in feudal japan (and by air-combo I mean slaming X over and over again spaced out with the occasional Y button if I am feeling fancy). There are your exceptions in quality, such as Halo or Ninja Gaiden or Devil May Cry (had to be good enough to spawn 2 BILLION clones) but those are definintly exceptions.
Okokok. I'll stop ranting about that for a second. It's nice to see that developers are trying something new. This game is something new. It's not, however, in anyway, shape or form, worthwhile in the least. You roll over shit so that you may roll over larger shit and no matter how fricking good the sence of progression is you're still just rolling over shit and I can think of at least one hundred things better to spend twenty dollars on than a game about rolling over a bunch of crap. Yes, there are little mazes and such and yeah, there's a story and OH MY FUCKING GOOD LOOK HOW CUTE IT IS but, folks, "cute," only sells to me if it is clothes for my girlfriend, and I'm not talking about the "rolling-over-shit" kind of cute.
Well, shit. I just forgot about how LUCKY we are. Good thing Namco wasn't wasting time on a new Klonoa that wouldn't sell (see, they're SMART!) because they could just deliver us THIS ace instead. It's BOUND to give Namco all of those Moneyhats that Klonoa has denied them.
Have you played it?
Oh, and I'm totally feelin' ya on the Klonoa thing... *sigh*
I tried going to my corner EB, but they don't even know what it is either, what the heck...I should live in Florida, where I know EB customer support like Mzo have a clue of what I'd like to buy.
20$ for this is a steal, its mine when I find one. =D
Went to the EB that's on the way home from school today to pick this up and they only got in enough for their preorders (3, 2 of which were for employees). So I drove across town and checked out another one. They got in 2 and had one that wasn't opened and put on the wall so I picked it up. The guy had no idea what it was but he asked and I filled him in.
Just put about an hour into in and it's a lot better than I was expecting (not much). I can't wait until I get to rampage through cities and roll over buildings. Easily worth 20 bones.
I couldn't really make that out either. Though based on the first sentence, I assume not.Quote:

BTW, you can tell Videodrone's extreme hatred of this game from his av/sig combo.
You know, I don't think that was worth whatever small amount of time it took to type. I'm not trying to front, yo, it's just that the game doesn't appeal to you, you haven't played it, and that's really no basis to say it shouldn't exist. Klonoa is not locked away in a dungeon because of this game, I doubt they even share any resources or team members. No one is saying every game ever made from now on should be about rolling around picking shit up with your sticky ball. Except Diffusionx, he told me he thought that would be the way to go.Quote:

GOTY material right here. There is strategy involved because you can't just suck up every object you come across. You have to plan accordingly, because some of the objects, if attached too early, will cause the Katamari to handle differently. Later on, when you start attacking the humans and attaching them, they send out the army to attack the Katamari and free the people/objects attached.
Also, I agree with you about Klonoa, but remember that this game wasn't supposed to come here. They brought it out because they got some positive impressions from the E3 demo. Thank goodness for that!
I really hope you come back and tell us you played it, because if not you are an idiot for thinking you have anything to say about something you know nothing about first hand.Quote:
