Michael Crichton

I've been a fan of Crichton's for quite a few years now. I read Jurassic Park when I was 12, and pretty much everything else since then. I'm just finishing up The Andromeda Strain (odd, his first under his name, and the last I've read), and it's pretty amazing stuff. I absolutely love how technical and detailed he gets. It's like, getting textbook info in a story.

Prey is his latest. It was pretty good, but he seems to have lost a little bit of his flair in recent years. Timeline was also good, but I personally think he peaked with his earlier books.

Your thoughts?

i went through a stage where i read tons of his books. I think Sphere is my favorite. It's too bad that none of the movies based on his books have been that great. i think his technical style has a hard time translating to a screenplay.

I would say the same, though Jurassic Park was probably my favorite.

Yah i agree his books where great when i was a kid.. But then i grew up...

Sphere, Jursic PArk, hell i even liked Lost World..

I agree and was in much the same situation as yourself, Mr. Pres. I was in 7th grade when I read Jurrasic Park, and just finished up Timeline, which I loved.

I've not read Prey yet, so I cannot offer up an opinion.

The Andromeda Strain, great book. It was translated pretty good into a movie (I think at least.) Its older, late 70's I think.

I stoped reading Crichton in 8th grade. When I realized all his books are the same.

Minus the fact that some have DINOSAURS!

Crichton is one of my favorite authors. The Andromeda Strain is my favorite book.
