Chaos Legion - Official Thread

Well, Knowing me and my love for Capcom, you could be sure that I was looking forward US release of Chaos Legion. I loved everything I saw about it so far, the action, characters and glimpses of gameplay. The reviews are not very kind to this game, complaining about the supposed shortness and repetivity of gameplay. Well, Its a beat them up afterall, and I dont remember many of the games in same genre back in the day having a 40 hour long quests, or being nothing than kill the next enemy you see style.

I just came back from GameStop which still havent received their shipment yet :(, and so I will have to comeback after work to pick up my copy. Once I get some playtime with it, I will post my impressions.

What is this Chaos Legion you speak of? Never heard of it. Sounds interesting.

It's basically a DMC/Dynasty Warriors hybrid, in which you can call upon legions to help you in battles.

It doesn't seem like CL quite knows what it wants to be - a straight brawler or a strategy-based RPG.

But I admit the premise is interesting...I'm just not sure how well it's delivered on.

I'm sure Despair will fill us in. :p

I played the import for a couple of hours, and wrote up some impressions a while back. It IS repetitive, although I don't consider that too be such a bad thing in an action game. However, you have a very limited range of attacks and it gets old rather quickly. This is offset somewhat by the variety of elementals (legions) you can call forth into battle (although they are subject to only a few basic commands).

Mediocre, imo, but that shouldn't dissuade anyone from checking it out.

Well, As posted above, I comparing this game to beat them up games of old - Final Fight for example. How many attacks your characters had? Did it really had a GREAT enemy variety? Was gameplay something other than kill, kill kill more? No. Didnt made those games less fun to play. But nowdays, we get people raggin on games like this, calling them repetetive and pointless.

Don't fret it, Despair. I've seen enough of your posts to get the sense that you'll like it well enough (and I'm not suggesting that you like bad games, by the way). The game boasts some sweet character designs, and there's no shortage of action.

Hmmm.... Could be my kind of game. "5 hour games" always give me hope that I can actually get though them. My pile of shame can't be allowed to grow further, and I do likes me some beat 'em ups, so....

I'll definitely be at least renting this one.
