Bah, that's nothing. You should have seen what I was posting in Ironplant's self-proclaimed stupid thread, until I was boo-urned off the stage, so to speak.Quote:

So... I've been really looking forward to Halo PC and I've been following the news and stuff on it. There's a ton of info available on the Gearbox site as well as at MS' Halo page and halo.bungie.net/.
From personal experience, I always felt that the slower pace of Halo was just right; it makes the game more tactical and less of an Unreal Tournament type twitch-fest. The limitation of having only two weapons is likewise a nice game balance thing, and its one of the factors that contributes to making a game that values thinking ahead over being the first to grab the biggest gun.
The vehicles in Halo are awesome, especially when you have players who actually mainly play to have fun rather than just to win -- you can have a lot of fun just ramming two warthogs into each other. The vehicles have good and bad points, just like the weapons, so you need to pick the right one for the right situation.
Since I pre-ordered the game and am definitely planning to get it, I decided to try the leaked beta. Only about six multiplayer maps are included (and only half of those are from the new ones) and maybe four or five single-player levels, but all the additions to the engine are in there. The game controls a lot like the Xbox version, which is to say very smoothly, though I've found that you can only use a gamepad if you can turn the sensitivity down in the control panel, because otherwise even with the movement rate set to 1 (out of 10) in Halo it's WAY too fast (as though it's been set to 10 in Xbox Halo). I'm still getting used to using the mouse for Halo (I've been playing on Xbox so long that the controls have become very instinctive) and working out how best to customize them (having the melee attack handy is a must).
