Basically Richie May and Rich Vos are double the quality that Phan is. And another thing that pissed me off, for Phans' last performance he did the SAME FUCKING bit he did for the semis. That crap about going to the bathroom and martial arts. I couldn't believe he used the same damn material. His range is terrible, absolutly awful.
Dat shouldn't have won.
He went on Leno and did the same routine. I agree with Rumpy, one trick my little pony all the way.
Ralphie May was good, but there was just something about him that i didn't like that much. and the one trick pony bit about Dat is true. i seriously liked him at the start but the more he did his material, the more his flaws came out. the only reason i could think of why i wanted Dat to win was simply because he got shit on by everyone. and maybe the asian thing. i don't see too many successful asian comedians out there, sans Margaret Cho.
i've also seen Corey Kahaney perform too. she's good, but she wasn't the funniest that night i saw her. her material is so-so and really only revolves around her teen daughter. (and if anyone remembers a guy named John Priest being selected at the very beginning, i've seen him perform too. he's got some good stuff.)
my two favorites though were Dave Mordal and that dude Rob.
Ralphie May sure the hell didn't deserve to win. His "comedy" was boring and cliched. If anything Dave Mordal (sp) should have won.
I didn't find Ralphie May the least bit funny. The angry fat man gimmick was just not funny.
Cliched? Jesus, look no further than Dat Phan or any of the women comics.
That's why I would choose Dave or even Rob. Their standup routines were all different from everyone else. IMO they were funny but not everyone would think so.
