I have to agree with Master of 7s. The game wasn't looking that great. However, Capcom could have done some very interesting with Dead Phoenix.
Considering that Nintendo is now hoaring out their licenses to other companies (see F-Zero/Sega, Donkey Kong/Namco), Capcom might have taken advantage of this opportunity by asking Nintendo if they could apply the Kid Icarus license to the game.
Dead Phoenix had the template for a 3-D Icarus game, with the protagonist flying around with wings. Just apply an Olympian motif with eggplant wizards (and of course good gameplay) and you have yourself another must-have Gamecube game.
And for added style, they could have made Icarus an adult and just drop 'Kid' from the title. Hell, I'd be frothing for a Capcom/Nintendo 3-D "Icarus" game.
Yeah, I'd been hearing rumors Nintendo was was just going to license Capcom to turn Dead Phoenix to a new Kid Icarus game, much in the same way they had Rare add Star Fox characters to Dinosaur Planet and turn it into Star Fox: Dinosaur Planet.Quote:

This news made me sad. I was looking forward DP, and I love Capcom games. Too bad :(
Given the unnecessary need for name changes, what would Dead Phoenix be called in the States?
Spec Ops Xtreme.
FLYING BIRD MAN! : DESTINATION CHAOS!
Mobile Light Force 3... duh!Quote:

But we need to put this in perspective. This doesn't suck nearly as much as Dee Dee Planet's cancellation back on Dreamcast.
Why did you have to bring that up?!?!Quote:
