Got the guide although I was disappointed with the lack of art. So, I just forked over for the LE; figure the art book and CDs justify the cost. It would be nice if I actually opened and played the game though but KOTOR took up a chunk of last week and too busy this week. Oh well, guess I'll live vicariously through the thread posters...

You could find some maps where it's easy to reach the enemies, then pass EXPx3 in congress. Also, this is obvious, but always save before you enter a map you haven't played yet, including promotions in congress. Third, you only need to level to 100 at most to win the game. Maybe I'm totally missing something, but there's nothing even close to what FFT offers as far as character skills and developement. Fun game nonetheless, but it seems like so much work to get so much less.
Higher classes have better base values and therefore better stats while they level-up. Disgaea's humor trumps whatever might be in FFT. I wouldn't say either game is perfect.Quote:

er, there's the whole mentor/pupil thing, which means you can pretty much spread any skills around that you want, and certain weapon techniques + spells = new skillz
I know about the mentor/pupil thing, which is a cool idea, but sort-of a hassle (and it works opposite the way I think it would), but spell+w.technique = new skill thing I haven't heard of. Could you give an example?Quote:

I don't see how you can disregard mentors and then complain about skill depth. You could theoretically teach someone every spell in the game (though you'd have to be nuts to do so). It's really no more tedious than performing an action every round in FFT just to get a few more job points.
Learn a few spells with some of your melee characters and see what new skills pop up. I don't have any comprehensive lists handy, and its not explained anywhere that I know of, so I can't give you any rules. I just know my characters are learning neat new skills that do neat new stuff when I learn stuff from pupils ;)
Well okay. My understanding was that the Mentor can only learn whatever skill the pupil does while he's standing next to them. Then, he has to perform that skill, that's available while standing next to them, enough times that he learns it himself. So, if I really wanted to go through the effort, I could get a fighter to learn priest skills by mentoring him. Eh. If there are other skills to be found, as you suggest, than I'm totally missing out on something. But if it, along with transmigration, are the ways of sharing class skills (I assume you can't share weapon skills; it doesn't seem like it or make sense), than that's fairly tedious compared to the elaborate job system of FFT (which is much more detailed than merely performing actions to get JP).Quote:
