I'm going to make a comprehensive list. Which system is X game best on?

Game A comes out on a system I have. I want it, I buy it. A month later, Game A comes out on ANOTHER system I have, with small improvements, extras, etc. That sucks my ass. I don't want to sit and wait for a game to stop being released before I buy it. That's just where I'm coming from.

That's why I like Nintedo so much. I know SM64 is the best SM64 there will be. Sega does this too, and I thank them for it. And before anyone points it out, yes, I know that Crazy Taxi came out for every damn system (I'm surprised Acclaim didn't make a Virtual Boy version). I also know that a lot of Genesis games were ported to the Master System. To that I say: "Shut up," usually followed by a "go away."

That sounds cool! I should've been more specific... I hate immediate or near-immediate ports. Now, if the game's been around long enough to be a classic, and they bring it back on a new system, then that usually does warrant a purchase, and I'm OK with it. I just don't want 2 mediocre and one good version of a game floating around, just so "everyone can play." Like, say, Shadowman, any Capcom fighting game (except SFA3, that's amazingly good there), and so on.

If its a 2D Capcom fighter, its better version was the Saturn one, not the Playstation version. I'm guessing many 3D games on the PS that got ported to the Saturn were better on the PS.

And Batman is exactly the same (as far as I could tell) on all of them. They all looked exactly the same, and sounded the same, and played the same and none had extras.

Game I'm curious about: Spy Hunter- I heard there were certain things better graphically, and certain things worse, and there were extras in the XB version, but I got a sense from everyone that the graphical downgrades outweighed the improvments and the extras. Anyone play all versions? Controller doesn't factor in with me, I like em all fine.

No, but really, games should be designed for specific systems from the ground up... they all work in very different ways, and for a developer to limit the potential of a game so it can be more compatible is bull plop.

When you buy a system, you make an informed choice. If you can't afford them all, you buy the one you think will offer you the most. You'll never play EVERY game released for EVERY system. And you know what? You'll live! And then, someday, when you grow up, you can buy whatever system it was you couldn't afford for $30.00 or so, and, if you have the time and inclination, play all those games you missed back when you didn't have a real job. It happened to me, it'll happen to kids everywhere for years to come. Such is life. Hell, it's happening to me right now, since I don't have an Xbox. Would I be happy if Sega butchered JSRF and crammed it into the PS2? No, not really.

Pirates: The Legend of Black Kat better on X-Box than PS2

Grand Theft Auto 2 better on DC than PSX

Dead or Alive 2 better on PS2 than DC

Grandia 2 better on DC than PS2

Chrono Trigger better on Super Nintendo than PSX (loadtimes my ass!)

Flashback The Quest for Identity better on Genesis than Super Nintendo. (Slowdown on SNES is horrid.)

Out of This World on Sega CD is better than PC, SNES, and Genesis versions. Not to mention you get the sequel not released on any other system.

Wolfenstein 3D best on 3DO. Get the updated graphics from the Jaguar re-make along with CD-quality sound.

Street Fighter II (all versions) better on Super Nintendo than Genesis. (deal with it Sega fanboys)

I'm curious which version of Rayman is the best. PSX, Jaguar, or Saturn?

strikers 1945 , dodonpachi, megamanx4 and SOTN were done better on the psone. Grandia 2 was done better on the DC than the ps2.Megaman legends was done better on the psx than on the n64.
