Game I'm curious about: Spy Hunter- I heard there were certain things better graphically, and certain things worse, and there were extras in the XB version, but I got a sense from everyone that the graphical downgrades outweighed the improvments and the extras. Anyone play all versions? Controller doesn't factor in with me, I like em all fine.

Actually, for Batman, the Cube and Xbox versions are better simply because they run at 60fps and the PS2 version runs only at 30.

Mzo, you believe that games should not be ported because they were designed for a specific platform in mind, right?

Then, I hope you don't support arcade games being ported to home systems, because that would be hypocritical. :)

In the old days, since arcade hardware was so much different from the home systems, there weren't all that many ports. Most were pretty different games. But, for those that were close (Kung Fu, Shinobi, Rampage, Galaga, DK, etc.) then I fully approve of a home version, since not too many own arcade boards and the knowledge to play them. I'm not THAT Nazi about games, expecting them to ONLY be available in the arcades. Just make sure that when you port them, you either bring in the proper hardware necessary (light guns, arcade sticks), or you leave them alone. Ugh, I hate playing gun games or fighting games with a stock pad (like Silent Scope). And I hate playing VF4 on the PS2 controller. It funks me up, especially if I tried to do things I do at home in the arcade. No 2-button-presses shoulder buttons over there.

Nowadays, most of the new systems have sister arcade hardware, anyway (STV-1, Naomi, Triforce *drool*, etc.), so ports from those to their respective console are generally painless and get the Mzo seal of approval. Then there are exceptions like Soul Calibur, which just kicks the arcade version's ass all over the place.

I dunno, despite my BS answer up there, I was talking about console games. Arcade games are a different beast, and I think most are made with the mindset of being ported from the get-go, anyway. Although the same can be said of some console games. Whatever.

Ports chafe my buns too. Just go all out and make it all you can make it, I say. What's the point of different systems if they all play the same games?

Yes, the LIMITED EDITION does, but unfortunately, we in the U.S. failed to get that version :(

it's gonna be tough to get a list of which system is X game best on with people arguing over things like Bangaioh vs. Bangai-o and the different versions of DOA2, crazy taxi, etc..

comparison i can't wait to make: ikaruga DC vs. ikaruga PS2..
