You learn something new every day. Today, I found out there's a specific kind fracture you can get in your hand from punching something, known as a boxer fracture. When you punch something, most of the stress is sent to outside bone in your hand (the one which runs to the pinky) which can snap in half if done wrong. Technically, a boxer fracture occurs closer to the fingers, but I don't think my hand really cared at the time.
As a general word of warning, be careful that what you punch isn't harder then your hand. But don't worry, I kicked my kitchen door's ass! It won't try to threaten me again!
