Didn't think this would ever happen...but I need a new car. My 11 yr old car needs new transmission or whatever, and the price will be 1600. Add the fact that it has no a/c, no speakers, rustyness, etc...it's not worth keeping. So, I want a new car. Something between 14000-20000, that has a/c and a cd player. I prefer foreign cars.
I know nothing about such, please guide me in the right direction. Only thing I know is that I love Toyota cars (they seem to drive really nice...).
I'd go with a Toyota Corrola myself. I think Nissan's making some incredible cars now, but the Sentra isn't one of them, imo. Hondas look and feel really generic to me, and it seems like everyone has one.
Whatever you do, don't buy it from Champion Toyota. They've tried to screw over a couple of my friends with some really shady business practices.
I just recently purchased a new car and saw some nice new Nissan Altima's that are right in your given price range.
When you say "new" car, do you mean newer than the ride you just had or are you excluding used cars all together? At the rate cars depreciate, it wouldn't be unwise to consider getting a sweet 2000-2002 in that price range.
Toyota Corolla will make a great choice. We have 2 Corollas and I have to drive alot at my work, and Corolla offers great reliability and gas mileage.
Honda's is another good and reliable brand. Civic falls into given price range nicely, and like Toyota, Honda cars are good quality.
Yeah, a few of my friends recommended Corrola. I'll have to check up on the Nissan a bit. Sounds neat.Quote:

Aurora, I heartily recommend you go out and get a 2003 Altima right now while you still can. The 2004's are about to roll out and Nissan dealers are trying to liquidate the things to make room for the new models. August/September is probably the best time of the year to buy a new car, you can swing some pretty sweet deals. You should probably be able to get for $17,500 to $19,500 depending on what options you get with it, with low-interest or possibly even interest-free financing. My mother just got one recently and they are INCREDIBLE! Luxurious as hell, even better than the old Maximas.
Stay away from the Sentras though, they are basically the old-style Altimas with some minor cosmetic changes implemented. I swear, I could park my 2000 Altima next to a 2003 Sentra and at first glance they would look like the exact same car inside and out. Their only a couple thousand cheaper than the new Altimas and not anywhere near as nice.
Toyota Corolla S! The only Nissans I like is the 350z (out of my price range), Altima's, or Maxima's. You can get a 2002 Nissan Sentra Type R. Its about $18,000.00 (thats how much my cousin bought it for). Has 2 12" Rockford Fosgate Subwoofers..Rockford Fosgate CD Player, I believe an amp, 16" rims, and some smaller speakers on the doors and stuff. The seats are leather as well, and a sunroof.
Honda's are nice. If you get a Honda, get Civic..but than again, everyone has it.
The Mitsubishi Lancer is I believe $13,000 (no, not the Evolution).
I do but I don't want to recommend a Focus. I've got one but I will be getting rid of it when its paid off. For $9k its not bad but you could do better. The one plus about the Focus is that factory speakers are JBL's and sound great with my JVC radio and cd changer.

Corrolla is good, as is the Chevy Nova (which is pretty much a corrolla). And my 1990 Pontiac Grand Am is reliable as hell.
