The start of school/fall semester?

I myself have seen 2003 as a wierd sort of sabbatical for the most part. I've been going to college since Fall of 2000 at the university of houston up to the fall semester of 2001, for the whole year of 2002 I took a break from that place to go to Wharton Country Jr. College for the next 3 semesters (including a summer session). But for all those semesters I took multiple classes. 2003 has been the first year where I've only taken 1 class per semester, a sort of mental vacation I suppose. I think all the shit I've dealt with in life the past 3 years earned me the right.

Currently I'm back at UH for the fall 2003 semester taking a Tech 1300 class...Computers in Technology (a visual basic class) on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:30-10:00am, which is not bad because at least it slowly helps me ease back into the UH work routine, hopefully I'll be taking alot more than just one class for the next couple semesters. I was suprised to see that I'm closer to graduation than I thought. I can't wait until I'm done with school, I do much better in it these past two years than I have done a couple years ago (2000-2001) but once I get a degree (I suppose any sort will do these days heh) I'm outta the education system. Anyway I'm rambling, what is everyone taking this semester?

I just got late admission into a graduate program at Concordia here in Montréal. I spent the last year doing an MSc at U of Ottawa but decided it wasn't right for me. Anyways, I'm enrolled in a program called Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA).

This semester I'm taking: EIA, Water Management, and Fate of Contaminants in the Environment (cilvil engineering course). I'm also TA'ing two courses: Remote Sensing and Landform Evolution.

Now I actually have to go wait forever at school to get all sorts of last minute things done. Only got registered yesterday, same day as when classes started so there's still lots to take care of.

Would love to be going to school again. Alas, the real world calls. Maybe I'll be taking a few geology courses, though. I hear there's call for computer peepz in the field right now, and I'm all about the rockage.

I have so far been to the University Center 4 times, the Financial Aid office 4 times, the infermery once (they signed me up, without my knowledge, for health insurance I already have, thusly charging me an unnecessary $939.00); I still have to go to the Quick Center to speak with my dean and head of department...and this is all just for freaking check in!

No...I'm a senior persuing my Masters. That's why it's so rediculous. I've been here for four years and they want to pull this grabage my last year?! WTF is that?!

Yes, I promptly went down to the Health Department and told them there was no way in Hell I was paying it. Not only did I have my own insurance, but I don't even live on campus, so they shouldn't have signed me up in the first place. Assholes.

Damn... I remember my university's default action was to charge for it and you had to preemptively prove you had your own to stop 'em each and every semester (didn't live on campus either). I thought it was limited to it, but I think it's required by law or somethin'. But hell, it was only like $138 back then.

College administration almost makes you want to just forget it all and go stupid for the rest of your life.

Then again; I doubt that college realy often makes you any smarter than when you left.

No way? Geology? Rockage? Cool!!!

I studied Environmental Geography for my undergraduate degree and did my thesis on a geological / palaeobiological topic. I originally wanted to pursue Geology but at the university I inteded on going to they were in the process of phasing out the department. I took many geology courses though.

If you're into rocks + computers, you may just be interested in remote sensing and GIS?

AND YES university bureaucracy / administration sucks. I spent an hour and a half today just waiting to pick up my student loan and then another hour waiting to deposit at the student banking centre. *sigh*

I'm going to school for Graphic design. I guess that's what you call undergraduate or whatnot. I'm going to Sheridan for animation after 3 years of this. And I'll spend 3 years in 3 programs for that school.

Oh, I'm at the University of Ontario right now. Frickin' zoo the first week.
