Yes, JM, there is a third ending. I've not come across confirmation of exactly how you get it for the US/PAL versions, though. I've heard these theories:
1) Beat Hard Mode
2) Beat the game without using a Continue (any difficulty?)
3) Beat the game with all Pro rankings on normal missions
4) Beat the final boss w/the Papillon
5) Beat the entire game w/the Papillon only
I'm going to try 1) first....
Does the papillion suck as an effective suit? I haven't heard anything about how functional it is, just how nice it looks. :D
JM, your energy drives are selectable, and there's no barrier (probably due to the lack of material :p). One hit and you're d-e-a-d. Makes the game extremely intense. The "suit" sure is easy on the eyes though - I think its looks far outweigh its practicality.

I'm just glad the grass roots movement for this game is continuing to gain steam. I think many gamers, once reading a proper review of the game will decide to give it a chance and I think most of the people who are looking for such reviews will enjoy the game immensely once they accept it for what it is. I've been loving this game since its release in JP. It was definitely annoying at first; but taking the time to actually go through and learn the game changed my tune. PN03, Space Raiders, and Viewtiful Joe are three of the best games to grace *any* console, period.
The Bottom Line has reviewed the first, will be posting a review of the second shortly, and the third sometime after that. I recommend that any GC owner hunt these games down and really give them a proper play through with an open mind.
All three of those reviews are outstanding, and approach P.N. 03 with a discerning eye that's lacking from most other reviews of the game that I have read. Thanks a lot for the links, guys.

After continued play, I now think P.N. 03 has surpassed the beloved Otogi in my personal Best Of The Year race.
got a little question on unlocking the blackbird (us version) cause im seeing some conflicting info. do i need to buy every suit and do all the missions and training, or can i just go through the missions/training without buying all the suits?

Since the Ultra suits are pretty expensive, you'll need to play a lot of training missions to get enough points to purchase them all, but ranking doesn't matter (plus you don't have to play all the training missions, just enough to get the points for the suits). I would recommend doing this:
- Purchase all suits on Easy difficulty, thus unlocking the Blackbird when you clear it
- And then, if you want to get the Papillon suit, then play through a second time on Normal, getting Professional rankings on all fifty training missions to unlock the Papillon (as well as the second ending).
