Gyakuten Puzzle Bancho

This is my all-time fave puzzle game, and the main game I've been playing the past month. It's a 1996 arcade game by a company called Fuuki, Japan-only. You can get the rom for Mame, so hunt it down, and start playing. This ranking is for the single player unlimited mode only, not the story mode.
The rules are simple: you have to play single player, arcade unlimited mode. Please include your SCORE, FINAL RANK (shown after your game is over, on the summary screen), BLOCKS, LEVEL, and MAX CHAIN. The last three are shown on the right of the screen as you play.

There's really no one here that has this game, or is interested in a score attack?? I'm telling you, this is the best puzzle game around. You can download it pretty easily, just do a google search.

Yup, I think so. Have you played GPB? Talk about addictive...I still haven't gotten 400+ lines yet.

I haven't played the game your talking about, but I WOULD play it... Can we talk about ROMS and dirty things like that here?

I think rom talk/posting is a no-no around here. Here it is my score after a few plays. I am *always* getting scores in the 260-275k range. I'm incredible in my crappy consistency :D

Nice score Desangre, thanks for posting it.
But, could you please include how many lines you got?
Also, if you know your max chain combo, post that too. It displays all this info on the side of the screen as you play. I've gotten about 320 lines with almost as high a score as I did with 341 lines, because I had better chain combos in that run, and with the chains, each line increases in value (I think the point value doubles for each line in a chain?).

I'm not sure going for big combos is a good strategy anyway. The multipliers don't seem to be such a big score boost in the end... Staying alive is where it's at :)

Great score there. Bancho is a great game indeed, I can pick it up and play it at any time, for 5 minutes or an hour. Sorry, before I was referirng to the blocks as "Lines". I'll correct that in the ranking page!

Also, staying alive is very important, but if you get higher chains (and multiple high chains), your score will be a lot higher than if you just get a bunch of 2 or 3 chains. My sister played this a lot and only got about 250 blocks one time but nearly beat my score because she had a bunch of 8-10 chains, and one 12 chain (I think)!! The trick is to get lucky when one of the "super bombs" falls, if you choose the right color, you can almost clear away the whole screen if the blocks fall right.
