I just put in my old DexDrive into my new comp, and I downloaded the last DexPlorer software made (200_902). That installed fine, and it runs, but that's not the problem.
Whenever I run it, Windows tries to install something called "DAO", and looks for a file called "dao.msi". I believe this is somehow linked to Office, and have no idea where to get it or what it does. The program runs, but I'm tired of cancelling out of this every time I start it up.
Any help would be appreciated.

A) This is due to a corrupted installation of Office-2000, even if Office-2000 seems to work OK for you. DAO components are installed also by Office although they are not used unless you access a database from Word / Excel, what is posible but not very usual.
Some ways to fix the problem:
First try selecting "Help - Detect & repair" menu option in any Office-2000 application (let's say Word or Excel) so that Office installer can try to fix the problem.
If this fails, the other option is to use the Windows Installer cleanup utility (msiccu.exe) than you can download from Microsoft (http://support.microsoft.com/support.../Q238/4/13.asp)
If this also fails the last chance would be obviusly to completly uninstall Office-2000 and install it again. But I would try first the other two options.

And removing Office didn't work... apparently I DO have that DAO crap installed, but it's manufactured by ATI. So now this really makes no sense to me.
Why does Windows try to install this crap? It's there, and if I cancel it away I can run the DexPlorer, so it's obviously not needed. WTF?
