Anyone know where to get a money order thats cashable in Canada?

Post office. Just ask for an international money order.

Lately my bank hasn't been cashing them immediately, but instead holding them for 25 days. Quite the pain.

I think there is a high fee, unfortunately.

Mode7, did you know that you can cash US Postal IMOs at the post office? They won't give you any hassle over holding it, and the exchange rate's pretty good.

FYI, you can also cash Canadian and Japanese postal MOs at American post offices.

John, absolutely any American money order except a domestic orange-and-green USPS MO will be fine in Canada. Western Union money orders are great, and probably cheaper than the USPS ones. When I lived in Canada, I used to get ones from Wal-Mart a lot, although I've never tried buying one myself. I wouldn't recommend going to the bank, since they charge way too much even for domestic MOs.

I don't know what it is now, but it used to be prohibitively high. Something like $10-15 in the mid-90s. :curse:

I always got them from Publix for around a dollar or so, and I'm sure I've bought stuff from some stinky canucks before :p

My bank said it would be $12 to buy a money order last time I asked. The teller advised me to go to the post office instead.

Some banks are probably better.

yeah my bank was high too

and i have no wallmart or western union around me so i just went to the post office and got an international one for canada
