Holy crap!

Damn, if it plays anything like the first one, this is instant purchase.

My most anticipated racer. Rallisport was the real deal -- rallycross, hill climb, ice racing -- with gorgeous visuals, good car selection, and an appropriate lean on arcade (vs. sim) play mechanics.

Some minor improvements AND online play = another year of Live service. Can't wait.

Edit: Okay, I watched the clip. Did I say "minor" improvements? Holy smokes! GT what?

My only two gripes about the first one (only one of which is really valid):

You were limited in how far you could drive off the road. They gave you these great environments, and awesome collisions, but you could only drive 30 feet off the road without it warping you back on, even in places where it's pretty obviously not going out of bounds (like two parts of the track separated by some trees or whatever). I hope they give you a bit more freedom, at least in some modes. I realize that helps prevent cheating in many cases.

The other gripe is the game was damn hard, and I didn't get too far into it because of it. That's just me being wimpy and/or not dedicated enough to it.

When's this coming out?

looking really nice. i wish Sega would get around to making a new Sega Rally just to remind everyone who's the boss when it comes to Rally Racers.

regardless, this one is definitely going to be worth checking out. it's gonna have Live support right?

it'll have live support, but i'm not sure if there's an online racing mode. i haven't been following the game, but these screenshots and this video have changed my mind.

I didn't think there would be a racing game that looks better than GT4 for a long time, but... that didn't take so long.

How was the first game? Are the graphics good? Gameplay? Control of the car? I liked Sega Rally 2. Does it hold up even to GT3.

Graphics good? Yes, very.

Gameplay? Also very good. Very fun.

Control? Spot on.

It's not too similar to Sega Rally 2 though... it's more simulation than arcade but it doesn't cross the barrier into the "not fun" realm of simulations.

And it's better than the rally racing in GT3, I'd say.

i generally dislike bumping a thread, but this one deserves it. the videos i just posted are amazing, particularly the in-cockpit portion of the first clip.

The second video showcasing scenery is again just gorgeous. The rain hitting the windshield with the wipers going is also amazing. Not much else to say other than "wow" a few more times.

Worth a bump. The cockpit and behind-the-car views, presumably straight from actual gameplay, are nothing short of stunning.

If the game can maintain that detail and framerate for even a 4-player online match, it's going to be an incredible experience. Plus, if it's like the last one, it will be challenging and should lend itself to high-caliber matches and rankings.

I never played the original, so somebody fill me in. Does it feature the real WRC drivers and names/voices? Or is just SUBARU IMPREZA DRIVER?

The game contains no mention of the drivers, licensed or otherwise. Career Mode rankings simply refelct your profile name.

The original game kicks all kinds of ass, and regardless of the supposed spoiler discrepancy, the upcoming sequel looks to bury every preceding rally game.

Anyone catch the Volvo S40 commercial that used in-game graphics from Rallisport 2 for the ad?

Fucking awesome would be a good way to describe it. These ads aired in my region (Northeast) during the Oscars but apparently a friend in Florida didn't see them.

Anybody know whether or not they're going for 60 fps (as compared to 30 in PGR2)?

According to epmode's post on the 17th, it runs at 60 fps.

I hate racing games. Hate them. All you do is drive the freak around, and try to do it faster than the other guys.

That said, I loved the first Rallisport. I don't know why, I just did. Looking at these videos makes me want the sequel that much more, and it makes me extremely thankful that I can order it from the MS XBOX retail site.

Nothing to add except that this game is going to rule. Definitely not the time to be canceling one's Live subscription.

ok, I finally got my own copy off Rallisport, and I've given it anough face time to really get a feel for it, and I'm really hoping this sequal can pick up some of the slack that the original is filled with. The physics are decent, but nothing compared to the colin mcrae series, hell if anything, this feels like the game colin mcrae 3 is a sequal to. It's amazing the little details that they have in here that are so reminicent of Colin, and yes it's all rally games, but it's funny how the back fire intervels are about the same lenght, the voice is giving directions ominously familar and the pop ups are color coded the same way.

The saving grace of RAllisport is it's rallicross options and track design. And really, the track design is where it is at. One second it's nothing but tight corners through some village, the next it's pedal to the metal all out dash down some long road. It's really neat to be going 220 into a hair pin turn.

Well sequal is looking more appealing now, but I'll wait and see if it can truely put Colin Mcrae down.

Well yeah, but it's still like 130 mph or something close to that. About twice what you are going in Colin Mcrae for the most part.

I read IGN's review last night, and it did a great job of getting me more excited about the game.

Rallisport Challenge 2 should be available 2 or 3 days. Colin McRae is a fine series, but I'm pretty excited about rally racing over Live. I'll be grabbing it this week for sure.

No need for a list...play it safe and simply stay of the internet entirely.

Again, McRae is a great series and if you don't have (or like) Live, and it appears you don't, you're probably right not to bother with RS2 for now.

But I tend to enjoy Live, particularly with the great core group of TNLers who are always up for a friendly, competitve game. Thus, I forewent McRae this round and I fully expect RS2 to offer up plenty of good times. We'll see in a day or so.

very pretty, but noticably easier than pgr2. you'll want to start on the hardest difficulty if you want anything resembling a challenge. i haven't lost a race yet, but i've read that it gets much harder about halfway through.

Hopefully, they made the right decision and decided to ditch the formula that I found pretty fun and opted to go for a Grand Tourismo 3-type career mode where you race the same track 5000 times to get some more shock absorbers, but with this new feature of earning bling-bling and street cred while NOSing out your homies to thee sounds of sub-par hip-hop music. I'm sure it'd sell more copies and win more awards. They made a crappy decision.

Seriously, exactly how easy is it? I don't know if you guys unlocked the blue races at the end of the first one, but those are crazy hard. You had to basically go full speed the whole time and not screw up. What color races would you put the difficult part of this one at? Orange, red, blue...

It's definitely easier, a lot easier, than the first one. Where you'd have to do like four races in a row, without getting to restart anywhere but back at race one in the first one, in this one you can work on a track by track basis, at least in the little bit I've played so far. And I busted out Rallisport 1 maybe two weeks ago so I can safely say this is much easier.

But... it's all about the Live play! Guaranteed to be more challenging than single player (and probably more fun too!).

Figured as much, so I made a Gamestop run on my way home.

The game is plenty cool. Gorgeous arcadey rally racing, with tons of options and 238 unlockables. Oh yeah, and LIVE PLAY!! Of course, no one's on to play, aside from S1ip who's apparently jacking off to one of his replays.

Some of you will be glad to hear that a rock no longer brings your 550hp car to crashing halt. And the visuals on the night driving is spectacular.

I have copy from MS retail on they way and I simply could not be more excited.

This is some seriously good shit.

Almost 8 a.m. and I'm calling it a night. Climbing the leaderboard will have to wait a few days.

I'm loving the game as well... Not only is gorgeous, but for me it's the most fun racing game i've played in a long long time. I've played Colin and yeah it's more "realistic" and probably a better representation of the sport... but I never had as good of a time as I have playing this.

OMFG....this game is amazing. I love the realism of CMR 04, but this game is so much damn fun, especially on Live.

I'm plowing through the Amateur ranks...so far it's not that tough.

I thing that I love is the way the cars look in the car select screen. R: Racing Evolution is another game that does this well....the cars look so good, you watch to pull them out of the TV and put them in your garage. :)

I look forward to playing against some of you on Live. :)

Career-Amateur-complete 1st 3 stage race, complete one of the 2nd races, see "Autosaving your progress" or whatever, black screen-crash.

When I return, and try to load up my profile, the file is corrupt and cannot be loaded.

Forget the racing. This game demands purchase on its voice masking options alone. Want to win? Throw on the "Awesome-O 4000" voice and distract your opponents by saying "sweeeeeet" and "lame" until they crash. And don't get me started on "The Big Guy"...

My Thomson drive Xbox barely/won't read games released in the last 6-8 months, however older games still work fine most of the time. My Xbox with the Samsung drive has had no problems with RSC2, PGR2, RS3 like my old one. Its the crapppy thomson drive. You might want to see if you can just replace the laser, its the cheapest way to go, and I've heard that works fine if you do.
