Final Fantasy X-2: International to release in Japan

I know most of you don't give a flying rat's ass about this...but then, it wouldn't really be TNL if you did.

Contained within this version of the game you will see:

-additional boss
-the last mission (3 months after the ending of FFX-2)
-2 new dress spheres:

I assume this new version will contain the English voice acting, as the "International" subtitle would suggest, but nothing to that effect has yet been announced.

I assume we won't be getting this over here.

Probably not, but that's to big a problem if you've got the means to play import PS2 games.

From what I've heard, you do.

It'll probably be in English, so there shouldn't be anything holding you up.

Isn't it just a Japanese release for the US version of the game?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that's what the other "international" Final Fantasies were?

Yes, but in order to coax the Japanese gamer into buying a game that they assuredly already own, they add things that we do not get, like the boss, the extra story, and the extra dress spheres.

Final Fantasy X: International included the Dark Aeons, a new mega boss named Pennance, and a revised Shpere Grid. All of these extras were present in the Euro version, but we'll never see them over here.

Xenosaga: Reloaded is going to contain two new dresses for Momo, and a few other additions on top of the English voice acting.

It's a big deal, man.

We're not getting any of this new stuff, as our version is a localization of the initial release in Japan, sans all the good new stuff.

This is why I'm going to wait until this Winter to pick it up. I own a JPS2, and now there's no reason for me to own the domestic release, especially because this new version of the game will be playable in English.

APPEND: The two pictures I posted are of the same dress sphere. I believe it's called the "Psychic Dress." Just making sure you could all tell. ;)

I love how Square keeps releasing the "true ending" to all their games on the second version that Japan gets. Will we have to buy the Ultra Unlimited Saga: Tin Box Collector's Edition to get that final mission in the U.S.?

Or maybe a re-release of Driving Emotion Type-S TURBO could include it. That'd be hot too.

i read about this elsewhere.. aren't these screenshots of something called Final Mission? a follow-up to ffx2 (and, reportedly, the absolute end of the ffx story)?

The scenario part of that segment is about 4 or 5 times bigger than "Another Story Eien no Nagisetsu". It truly is the conclusion of the "Final Fantasy X" series.

edit edit: square sucks. these constant revisions and rereleases are frustrating. especially so, living in america.

Given the timing of the U.S. release, I suppose there is a chance this will all be a part of the version we're getting. Fingers crossed.

FFX-2:I will have an entirely new sub-game called "Last Mission" that is a dungeon-RPG that takes place in "Yadonoki Tower." It will have new bits of story (including Japanese voice) that you'll only see if you start Last Mission with a completed save from FFX-2 or FFX-2:I, though you can start the subgame without a completed save. There's quite a bit of translated info here. It'll also have the voice acting from the US version of FFX-2. FFX:I had an option to have the entire game in English, but nobody knows if FFX-2:I will have the option, as Kingdom Hearts Final Mix didn't. Last Mission is said to be 20 hours long or so.

The International stuff (aside from the voice) won't be in the US FFX-2. There have been a few early reports that the PAL version of FFX-2 will have all of the extras from International, but it was also reported early that PAL KH would have the extras from KH:FM, and it didn't. Time will tell, I guess.

Btw, the new outfit above is called "Psychicer" or "Psychicker". I love it. :) It looks like something Kazuma Kaneko (SMT series) might have come up with.

Well if this stuff isn't going in the U.S. one as you say jiji, that's really disappointing but not at all surprising given Square's track record.

Maybe I'll just pass on the U.S. one and import this version instead.
