Holy fucking shit... that trailer was awesome. There's no way this will be anything short of astounding, whenever it hits. Time to watch it again.
that did look sweet, i can't wait for this release.
Johnny Undaunted, what the hell? what did you think of the trailer?
any one have another link to the trailer i cant get that one to work it keeps telling me the files not there and that the link is dead
damn it that one doesnt work either :(
Sorry man... if my webspace wasn't full of JSRF mp3s, I'd upload it there. :(
BTW, I'm going to say that the dude who says "Snake it's showtime" at the end is Raiden. Sounds like him, and I wouldn't be surprised if he's in the game as a joke. Perhaps a second playable character once you've beaten the game (he did say he went through Shadow Moses VR... so that's how they could explain it).
The first link just worked for me. That's a hell of a trailer. Looks pretty damn good.
It was pretty bad-ass, even moreso than the original game. I knew Kitamura wouldn't let me down.Quote:

Whoa, that trailer kicked ass! Snake definitely looks more capable in the new scenes, he did shit I've never seen him do.
Too bad it got delayed though -_-;
Hot damn what a trailer! Heck, I'm almost looking forward to this more than MGS3, just for the cut scenes! It's a shame the Versus guy isn't doing the MGS3 cutscenes as well. Oh, and go see Versus if you liked that trailer.
Yeah, THe new cut scenes do look awesome. But its kinda weird to see Snake flipping and do all kinds of other stuff, especially when he never does that in MGS2 :)
I am still skeptical about Twin Snakes though.
Well, if it's 99 and a game when this comes out, then Nintendo might best me.Quote:

I'm not willing to believe that this game got delayed until I see an official confirmation from Konami USA or Silicon Knights stating that this got delayed.Quote:

What game do you consider the best of the last generation then?
you never know dude, they might just go ape shit with it. i mean sure, Nintendo has been good about being on schedule for the most part this generation...but Silicon Knights never ever has. and after all this is Nintendo, they still do delay games to make them better.Quote:

Watched the trailer a few more times. I demand that MGS2 gets this treatment.
The only thing I can think of (short of rip out the story and make something a little more sensible) that they could add into MGS2 a la the MGS remake is the crazy over the top action sequences... Snake flipping off of rockets and what not. Can't really update the graphics nor the gameplay that much.
I think a MGS2 remake would be a waste (at this point), sadly. :(
oh yeah, there's no need for a MGS2 remake.
That's how I can be.Quote:

Yes, that's what I want.
meh, that's not worth it. well, not remaking the game for.
closest thing you're gonna get to that is being able to change charcter models for the cinemas. oh man, i just remembered that's gonna be in Twin Snakes. awesome!!! it'll be much more hilarious with these compared to Sons of Liberty just because they seem much more outrageous.
MVS, didn't you buy a Japanese PS2? I remember ECM poking fun at someone for doing so in Gamefan.
Casting theatre is in? Great! I hope they go crazy with it, hell, put Mario in it.
yeah seriously. i remember playing import Gran Turismo 3 at your house when that first came out.Quote:

It's because of that, and paying 300 for an XB, that I have a new policy of no consoles until they are at least 1 year old.

If they remake MGS2, they better let us play the Plant Chapter from Pliskin's perspective.
I agree. I'll wait a year on a PS3, XB2 or GC2 when the time comes.
Why are we talking about a MGS2 remake?
Next generation I'd like to see a remake... but not now.

Konami producer Hideo Kojima and animation director Ryuhei Kitamura appeared before the assembled crowds at Tokyo GameShow 2003 last weekend to discuss their updated classic: Metal Gear Solid – Twin Snakes. Scheduled for release this winter on Nintendo GameCube, Kojima-san demonstrated the game before the crowd and explored its associated new features. Rather than calling the game a translation, Kojima-san urged players to think of Twin Snakes as the “rebirth of Metal Gear Solid.”
Among the game’s updated features will be elements from “Metal Gear Solid 2” including the ability to hang from the sides of suspended walkways to avoid enemies. In addition, players will have control of the camera, a revised map system, and significantly more enemies to face in Twin Snakes. Apart from its gameplay changes, animation director Ryuhei Kitamura discussed several new CG sequences in Twin Snakes. Reportedly, the new scenes were so extensive they required more motion capturing than used for “Metal Gear Solid 2.”
While a definitive release date for “Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes” wasn’t disclosed during the presentation, Kojima-san confirmed the game is nearing completion.
When pressed for release details he said players can expect Twin Snakes to hit retailers by early 2004.
seems like they're doing a shit load more than expected.
Why not? I liked Ghost Babel. :pQuote:

Aghh - Now theres a GBC game that I've always wanted to pick up , but never did for some reason. How does it play ? Like the original Metal Gear? How about a time frame ? Is it set after MGS or before the whole Shadow Moses incident?Quote:

Time frame wise, you should consider the game as an alternate-universe side story if anything. The beginning of the game pretty much resembles the start of the Shadow Moses incident... Campbell comes to get Snake, you meet Mei Ling (for the first time... again) and the rest of Snake's backup (other than Mei Ling they're all different people). There's too many plot holes and inconsistencies for this to fit nicely into the Metal Gear timeline. That said, the story is still quite enjoyable and filled with interesting characters and good dialogue. Gameplay is, as you might expect, just like the original (but it's broken up into missions, which you can replay for score and what not). The missions, by the way, do form one big compound... it's not a bunch of levels that have no connection, I think they just broke it into digestable chunks for people to perfect their play style.
It's a very good game, definitely worth tracking down.

Unfortunately, that how I feel about this game as well. From all what I seen of it, it still doesnt seem to have all that many new things. Sure, the inclusion of first person aiming and other things that MGS2 introduced, and better graphics are neat, but it will still the same game. You will still have to fight THE SAME bosses that you fough 4 years ago, same storyline(but with new cool cut scenes, that add wow factor, but not much else :(). Thats why I am more excited about Snake Eater, since it IS a NEW concept with new story.Quote:

In terms of gameplay, Ghost Babel is much closer to Metal Gear 2 (the MSX sequel) than any other game. Although, for most parts, Metal Gear Solid was just a 3D version of MG2 with things from MG1.
I still need to get Ghost Babel. I kinda shrugged it off when it was released, since I didnt have a GB, but with GBA, its my chance to try its goodness.
I will try to track me a copy, once I get a job :p
New Interview from 1UP.
http://www.1up.com/article2/0,4364,1339154,00.asp
No VR Missions huh? Slight bummer.
oh and...
I knew it wasn't the MGS2 engine...Quote:
1UP: Did you build your own engine for this game?
Dyack: Well, yes. God, what kind of engine is it? It's a hybrid engine of MGS, MGS2, Eternal Darkness, parts of new stuff we haven't announced yet. So yeah, it's a new engine, pretty much. Technically, as an example, we have a unified pipeline -- it lights the background and characters at the same time, dynamically. We've got bump-mapping, shine-mapping, all that stuff, the realistic shadows. Technologically, it's pretty advanced.
Good interview though, thanks for the linkage.
"We think that the games industry is going to be the dominant form of entertainment in this century -- people are already playing more videogames than watching TV, as an example. I think we do outdo the box office receipts of the movie industry, too, just not DVD and home video."
That all true?

oh man, sooooooooooooooooo fuckin awesome.
that is easily the coolest fuckin cinema in a Metal Gear game ever.
I believe the videogame industry took in a lot more money then movies did last year, at least in America. I can't remember the figures nor where I got them from (somewhere on this board from a long time ago) so I could be off, but I'm pretty sure on that.Quote:

Thanks Lucas for contantly updating this thread with cool new media BTW :)
God this is gonna be sweet. Its been years since Ive played the original. I had some really good times with this game and cant wait to re-live them and some new ones.

Please tell us how you'd prefer cutscenes to be, Grave.
It's not so much that I want changes, as much as that I'm tired of absolutely everything overusing slow motion and crazy acrobatic moves. Yes, it looks as cool as hell in this cutscene, but it's not necessary in everything. And there were a few times during it in which I wish they'd cut down on the slow motion.Quote:

I can understand where Grave is coming from. Snake jumping onto the missile shot from the hind in the E3 trailer is pretty ridiculous when looked at in the context of the original MGS and MGS2... it's pretty un-Snake.
However, I accept that this is a remake, somewhat of a re-imagining of things... and I love it :)
But yea, I can relate to what Grave is saying.
Yeah, this is going to be great. I like the original so much I sometimes forget how ugly it looks nowadays.
Those field mice and their little !'s better still be in there, or I'll be pissed.

Wow - no complaints from me for that kick ass Snake/ Grey Fox fight scene...
Heres hoping that this new gaming engine will give Snake some better/more numerous hand-to-hand fighting techniques so the fight scene in the lab will be more than <punch,punch,kick,-run><punch,punch,kick,run>

Well, MGS2 had a Ghost Babel poster in one part of the game. At the end though, Twin Snakes is still part of Konami's intellectual property, so they can use stock footage from any of their other games.Quote:

Haven't played ZOE2 yet though. I might try it out eventually though. Didn't care much for the original since it was just a front for the MGS2 demo that came with it and by the time I got my PS2, the full game was already out.Quote:

Much improved game as you've no doubt heard. The worst part about it to me is the horrible English voice overs... ruins any "drama" the game might have had. Even lacking an MGS2 demo this was a good purchase. And it has Zoradius, so it's automatically worth something.Quote:

About Snake turning into kung-fu legendary masterl level hero, it really isn't a lot like snake.
