That 27 minute trailer was incredible. There are so many reasons to be excited for this game, most of which MechDeus just made clear. It's the best of both worlds (MGS1 awesome plot, MGS2 awesome gameplay/graphics... plus cutscenes directed by Ryuhei Kitamura... pure awesomeness).

Think of it like this. What if someone tried to remake Citizen Kane and made it star the cast of Charlies Angels? This is what you're getting with MGS: Twin Snakes. It's as if someone tried to make a movie based off of Metal Gear Solid and just threw in as much retarded crap into every scene and then going back and taking away from other scenes that should actually have feeling behind them.
First off, why must every scene in this trailer have some part where I have to yell "THIS IS NOT THE MATRIX!"? Why must he do some ridiculous backflip all the time? Why does every bullet have to result in slow motion and trails? SINCE WHEN COULD SOLID SNAKE LEAP 30 FEET INTO THE AIR TO JUMP KICK A FUCKING METAL GEAR!?

Absolutely not. This is just absolutely ridiculous..It's almost like a mockery of MGS.
Some scenes also seem to have just lost all the emotional impact that they were intended to have. For example, when Meryl asks Snake about his name and his past. In Metal Gear Solid her acting was more believable, she really came off as concerned while he was more worried about reloading his gun than anything she was saying, overbearing music as a backround. Twin Snakes? Uhh..you get some cheesy guitar and 2 lifeless models doing nothing but moving their mouth. Great. Thanks.
Oh, the the mario bobble head...You just really have to be a blind fanboy to say that this is cool. The majority of MGS is shades of blue, grey and greens. There was an underlying theme to just about every area in MGS that played off of those colors. When you throw in ridiculous looking, brightly colored cock teases into some random scene it just completely throws you out of it to say "WTF". Yes, I understand. I will be playing Metal Gear Solid on a Gamecube. Thanks for reminding me. This is just another point in time where Nintendo feels the need to attempt to ram their cock in your mouth. The bottom line? I'm such an MGS nerd that I'll buy it regardless of everything I've just said. Along with a horrid control scheme (Does IGN still have that controller layout up? Jesus..) I don't see myself looking forward to this. Damn, and I had a lot of faith that this was going to be cool. Now I have to buy a game where Solid Snake fucking backflips onto missles and jump kicks robots.

Really now, I can think of two parts that scream Matrix in that trailer. Two.
Snake vs. Fox (right after the Ocelot fight), that's definitely the kind of thing you're talking about, and Snake vs. the Hind D, with the backflipping. Past that, there is nothing that outlandish. Everything else is just cool and stylish.
The whole Ocelot scene, where they put their weapons away to have an old-fashioned shoot-out, Snake vs. Raven, sliding around the corner, Stinger (or Nikita?) in hand... nothing else is that outlandish.
Not to mention the fact these cutscenes are being done by a guy who has consistently put out over the top action films. Just because Snake is doing backflips doesn't mean it was taken from the Matrix... there's plenty of foreign action movies that are far more over the top than that.
Also, this is a remake. They're having fun with it. You won't see Big Boss doing backflips in 3, I'm fairly sure. Just sit back and enjoy it, no need to be so up tight about it. Nobody was complaining when Snake was dodging bullets (with the stupid little Matrix trail) on the tanker in MGS2, so why are we starting now?
Edit: I take back the part about only two over the top things in the trailer. There's quite a few more, but my other arguments are unchanged. I shouldn't drink and try to concentrate on 30 minute trailers...

Yeah, I hear that. If you're going to really start judging the cutscenes, and complaining about the acting, at least wait until you've got the final game. Getting bits and pieces of a scene, with dialogue cut and editted for a trailer isn't the best way to gauge voice acting/directing/etc. It's a damn trailer.
I for one can't wait to play the game with all the cool tricks from MGS2, and I'm sure Silicon Knights have included tons of cool little bonuses and tricks throughout the game... it's going to be great, even with everyone doing backflipping (which does feel like too much to me).
And yea, I'm waiting to see what the system looks like... if it's as cool as the Biohazard S.T.A.R.S. one, I'll be happy.

I watched the whole trailer and I am really really looking forward to this game now. I LOVE the new cinemas!!! The one where Fox is fighting Metal Gear is so damn cool, especially when he's flipping around and a bullet grazes his back creating sparks....sweet. MGS is one of my favorite games ever and I absolutely have no problem with it being remade like this :) I couldnt ask for anything more out of it. I actually get to use my Gamecube again!! March cant come soon enough.

It isn't trying to replace the original MGS (it never did), it simply serves to compliment it by telling the story with a different spin. If you want the original MGS to remain the way it is, there's always the PS version.

Agreed. Watching him fight Fox in that trailer, and the cool hand-to-hand moves he uses on the Genome Soldiers, I would hope we're privy to some cooler moves. I'm not counting on it though (that comes in MGS3).
On the count of it being more dramatic, I also agree. Scenes like uhh, "Meryl vs. Sniper Wolf", where Snake bangs his head against the wall to show frustration... lots of little touches like that that really enhance the storytelling.

Just saw the vid, and ugh, everyone is right, WAY too much acrobatics for a MGS game. Why can't snake be badass and not superhuman? That being said, i don't think they "ruined" the game, and i will buy this day one for sure.
That and i treasure metal gear solid 2 amonst the best games ever created. Screw you haters.
MGS2 is a great game... when you're playing it and not watching it's ridiculous plot unfold.
MGS1 is greater.

Well, heres my take. MGS1 had infinitely superior characters and character interactions. But it was just a classic save the world story, granted ,the characters motives made that interesting, but the reason you were there to begin with was iffy at best. MGS2 had mostly shitty chars (with the exception of raiden/solidus), but i thought that the overall story and the context that it put your actions in were a bit more entertaining. Its all really opinion, if you multiply character x plot to get an overall, mgs1 still wins.
Edit: To make it more readable, for the context of a game, MGS1 wins, but for the context of simply a story, mgs2 wins. I love both games. (I only own MGS2 though)
