It's been about a month and a half now, still very happy with the Droid. If you don't want a physical keyboard the N1 might be a better call though. The onscreen keyboard is quite good in landscape mode but I still like the actual keys better, if I had to do it again I'd still get the Droid.
I've come to hate the Droid keyboard, I dig the touch one in both orientations.
The keyboard is nice to have if you want to use any of the emulators out there.
Anyone have a Palm Pre Plus?
nope. thats why Palm stock is tanking.
We really cannot sell the things at work. The slashed the price and even made the mail in rebate an instant one to help sell it more. It hasnt worked.
Its a great OS, on marginal hardware. The keyboard sucks, battery life stinks, the form factor is nice, but the edges of the thing make it feel like a cheap chineese knock-off. But, the Pre's biggest problem was the Sprint exclusivity. For the time peroid anyone cared about it, it was on the carrier noone wanted. Now with Android making all the noise, WebOS is left out in the cold.
If Palm isnt bought out by a bigger player like Nokia, Sony-Ericsson or LG, expect them dead in a year.
I have a Sprint Palm Pre. The OS and card interface are, imo, vastly better than anything else. The form factor is fantastic--it's significantly smaller than an iPhone or Droid in the pocket. The keyboard is solid, but quite small.
Battery life is pretty weak, but isn't it with all of these new smart phones? I don't know that it's any worse than is typical for these phones, but I usually go two days between charges (sometimes three if I'm not using it much).
The sharp edges (with the keyboard slid out) are indeed shitty. The phone isn't nearly as rock-solid in the hand as an iPhone. App support is decent, not great. Honestly, I mostly just use mine for the web browser, Google Maps, and texting.
