I think I finally want to get a smartphone. Can I do that and keep my monthly phone bill at $65 a month or less? I am not currently attached to any mobile carrier. Also, I think I want a Windows 7 phone. Is that stupid? Am I better off with an Android?

You can get the 65 or older plan on verizon for $29.99 @ 200min + $30/mo for internet + $10 for unlmited Vzw texting and 500 out of network all for $70. $5 for 250 txt if your a light texter.
The Mobile OS race is already completed. Its Blackberry, iOS and Android.
WebOS might be the dark horse in all of this, but thats a big IF.

200 minutes is SO not enough. I need like, 600 minimum.

Sprint has the cheapest plans. $69.99 for 450 minutes, unlimited to any mobile, night&weekends at 7, texts, data, navigation. And they give corporate discounts to almost everyone, mine is 22%. Evo has an extra $10 fee but you could get a Hero cheap with a great plan.

Alright, I'll look into that.

So I'm going to be moving to a rougher area soon and I think I want to get a smartphone. Will probably also get a unlimited text & data plan at some point, since it's so easy here.
I've got to test out everything I'm considering of course, but right now the android I'm thinking about is a Nexus One. I'm also looking at the Droid Incredible for something Verizon.
Any of TNL's Wally Changs (if you exist) have any other recommendations?

I see what you did there.

I guess it's fanboyish of me, but I find the iPhone4 issues kind of funny. When you hold it you lose signal, because the sides are the antenna. I remember my first cell phone had a nub antenna sticking out the top and it screwed with my call when I touched it. People also complaining about yellow spots on the screen. http://gizmodo.com/5571171/iphone-4-...yline=true&s=i

 Wow! That was hilarious. As I was reading I figured it was an isolated incident and then it just went on and on with updates from more users having the same issue. It sucks for them but it was quite a funny read.

Yellow spots on the screen, whatever. But that antenna issue is hilarious.
