I had iPhone from July 08-June of last year and the HTC Evo since. They're very similar, especially with all the apps that are cross-ported. I'm not sure what all is in iOS 5, however I know Apple is aping a lot of the multi-tasking from Android, so it might be more on par at that point. Things Android has that I prefer: widgets (basically like Apple Dashboard, except useful), true multi-tasking, share button (to twitter, facebook, different apps...even to something like FTP), Google apps (talk, voice, maps, etc), built-in navigation. Probably a bit more that I'm not thinking about.
They're basically the same thing, except the UI's are a bit different and Android is more customizable out of the box. Also, with Android you have your pick of what hardware features you want, whereas with Apple the only option is storage space.
I have the Samsung Infuse 4g and it's amazing.
First off the screen is literally bigger than the iPhone, as in you can sit the iphone in my screen and see pixels around the edge. Then its thinner as well.
Ive fucked with iphones and while they aren't really bad they just dont compete in terms of ease of customization (read: widgets and homedock apps) and overall bang for the buck. This thing even came with about twenty gigs of storage and i can easily add more with a micro sd card.
Oh and i could replace the battery without surgery.
My wife wants a pay as you go phone, and does around 200minutes and 200 texts a month. I don't deal with any of this shit and she wants a qwerty phone? Anybody have any experience in this shit?
Edit: PS She doesn't give a fuck about data or internet on the phone.
it will always be cheaper to have her as a 2nd line on a share plan.
Fuck that, share plans around here are the same as two separate plans, you don't get a discount until you add the third.
ADD A LINE FOR ONLY $10!
BUT NOT REALLY BECAUSE EVEN THOUGH YOU DON'T USE HALF OF THE MINUTES WE GIVE YOU IN YOUR $40 PLAN, YOU ARE GOING TO HAVE TO UPGRADE TO THIS $70 PLAN AND THEN WE ADD THE $10. AND OF COURSE THERE'S THE EXTRA FEE'S AND TAXES.
Dunlap is correct.
I went iPhone 3GS -> O.G. Droid -> iPhone 4, but I'm all but certain I'll be getting the Galaxy Nexus when it comes out.
So I'm wanting to grab an android phone for messing about and a little development, an was thinking of grabbing an unlocked Galaxy S 2. They're fairly cheap now and still pretty decent in terms of hardware. Thoughts?
