I have to agree. This shits all over my former windows smart phone in every way possible.

Wow. I would never think those pics were taken with a phone.
the htc hero is the best phone ive ever owned. the android os kicks my ass
Here's a photo I snapped with my Pre.
So far I love the phone. I'm hoping the software gets more and more hiccup free. It's generally a very responsive OS but can get laggy, especially if you ask it to do multiple things. YouTube and Pandora cripple it. I haven't used an iPhone extensively, but what I've seen is so much smoother, like it's always at 60 fps.
But I have zero issues with the keyboard, small as it is. Love being able to load a web page while I respond to an IM (and sending photos over MMS is great when I'm on my moto trips). The Pre really feels like a laptop-lite since it's so easy to juggle a couple of tasks at once. I'm getting about two days of battery from it. I'm not a heavy phone user, but I do a fair bit of browsing during the day when I'm on lunch or, erm, otherwise not busy with work. I've gone as long as three days before charging, but typically it's every other day for me. My last phone could go over a week on a charge...but I used that even (way) less than the Pre.
Having unlimited text is great, too. I was always reluctant to get a text plan on Verizon 'cause there's no text package I could share with my girlfriend, even though we're on the same plan--the smallest plan was 250 texts for $5 (or something)...but we couldn't share the 250 texts. I'd have to pay $10 ($5 for me, $5 for my girlfriend) for the minimum text plan, and since we on average didn't use that much in text costs without a plan I never bothered to get one. But then Verizon jacked their text rates up and it was costing me $.80 every time I texted my girlfriend. $.20 for me to send, $.20 for her to receive, $.20 for her to respond, $.20 for me to receive. What an ass-rape. Texting charges are such MALARKEY. Verizon was generally pretty good as far as my customer experience with them, but the texting charges really rubbed me the wrong way.
I'm leaning towards a Pre. My Verizon contract is up next month and they've been harassing the shit out of me to renew my contract. I've been with Verizon for four years and their service is by far the best. I've had Sprint and while it wasn't horrible it didn't measure up to Verizon's service.
That being said, I can get a Pre plan for $70 thanks to an alumni discount. $70/mo. for a smart phone beats $120/mo. for an iPhone or Verizon BB plan. I have some serious thinking to do especially since I also have my dad under Verizon. I don't want to pay two separate bills every month.
I got the same offer. Next time they call me (and they will) I'm going to ask for $20 off each phone line I have.
It's an insulting offer really. Especially when they can see my account and know that I never get close to going over my minutes. When I said that the broad gave up her sales pitch.
Getting ready for an upgrade. What's the best phone running on a Verizon plan right now?
