Since this is the TNL board and all....

The most important question of all, is, what's the first game that truly suck? :)

To make life easier you could all I Robot the first shaded polygon game. Just a suggestion.

Wasn't Bally's Astrocade the first console to have 4 controlers?

First Controversial Game - Death Race(Exidy, Arcade, 1976)

In this driving game you ran over creatures. Many thought the game was about running over people and I believe it was banned for a while.




First 3D Image Video Game Released - Sub Roc-3D(Sega/Matsushita, Arcade, 1982)

Even older than the Vectrex 3D Imager is this arcade game.

Was'nt the game Death Race, based of off the late 60's movie, Death Race 2000? The racers in the movie, scored points for running over people. I remember one scene, where a hospital was rolling out old people onto the road, to help their favorite racer score points. Cult classic!


Was'nt Battle Zone the first 3-D arcade game (1980)? If not the first 3-D title, it was the first arcade game to offer the first person perspective.

The Death Race game was inspired by the movie although I don't think it was licensed from it.

When I listed Sub Roc as the first 3d game, I meant in terms of 3d effects(like the Virtual Boy and SMS glasses).

There were a bunch of 3d perspective games before Battlezone but most of them were on-rails and didn't have full movement.

Ahhh! I remember the first time I saw Sub-Roc and did'nt think much of it, until I looked inside the periscope like device. I was amazed at how the missiles(sprites) would come at you and look like they were apart from the background scenery. Fairly revolutionary for it's day.

Didn't Centipede come out in 1981?

Centipede's title screen says 1980. Judging by title screen years isn't always correct but most of the time it is.
