Headline: Hosed By Gamestop
So, I took off to Gamestop on my lunch hour, looking to score Worms Armageddon for DC or maybe the Konami Arcade collection for gba. They actually had a copy of WA for DC and PS1, the DC one didn't come in its original packaging though, so I skipped it eventhough it was only $7.99. And I've got Worms World Party for PS1, so I didn't bother with the Armageddon copy they had. They did not have the Konami Arcade Collection, or whatever it's called...
While I was browsing, trying to avoid the two obnoxiously loud ladies shopping for a present for a son or nephew or something, the guy at the counter says, "Hey, do you have a blue car?" I was like, "No, mine's green," and thought, stupid question. Then he persisted to talk to me, eventhough I thought the scowl on my face made it very apparent that I wasn't a chit-chat kind of guy, saying, "Is that it?" So I look out the store front where my car is parked and it's as though a hurricane is deluging JUST MY CAR!!! So I made the wtf face: :wtf: and ran outside.
One of the sprinkler heads in a potted plant had shot off because a water main broke and pushed ALL of the water pressure through that single head. The sprinkler system itself was off, so it was a lot of pressure spraying 20 feet up in the air like a geyser and coming down directly into the open window on my passenger side, flooding the passenger and drivers side of my car! One of the obnoxious ladies came out to help me and she became "an extremely nice lady", trying to figure out how to turn the geyser off.
Regardless, it was too late. My car was soaked to the bone inside. I was utterly discombobulated by the whole ordeal. Here I am on my lunch hour and now I've got to figure out what the heck I'm gonna do about work! I couldn't go back to my office with my clothes soaked after sitting in the mess. And I couldn't go home and change because I live an hour and ten minutes from work. So I called my boss to tell her I was going home and not coming back in this afternoon and then I sat in the wetness that is my drivers seat to drive the hour plus back here to the house. And I didn't buy any games. :(
Moral of the story: sometimes those obnoxious people you try to avoid are actually pretty nice. Oh, and gamestop employees are hosers. :p
