KOF2003

I am now joining the masses with this displeasure of SNK continuing to release games on the old, archaic, and dying system ... the MVS. Let that code, system, and software ... DIE! It needs to go out to pasture and die a quiet and happy death. Let the next KOF's live on in the atomiswave system or the capcom one. Heck put it on XBox's, or the old NAOMI! But alas ... no ... SNK would rather keep it on a old goat ... the MVS ... and try and do patchwork graphics ... and pseudo-3D. Don't get me wrong ... I don't want to see KOF go 3D, but if they do. Do it right and use a RELIABLE 3D system and not try and do MVS 4.0 ...

"Hey look at what we did? We put a 3D processor on the MVS hardware! Now we can add 3D graphics to the MVS!"

"SNK has announced KOF 2020 on the MVS system. The MVS system was developed back in 1990. With several improvements over the years SNK hopes that during the year of playing video games with your MIND .... The player would want to play the games with their hands and view it on the 2D plane."

EDIT: The 3D kof slanted for next year is getting developed for the PS2. You think SNK diden't get a clue when their Hyper64 hardware bombed?

SNK keeps refering to it's games as "MVS". They're not. SNK vs Capcom was not an MVS game.

It was a straight JAMMA PCB. Odds are KOF2k3 will be the same.

i was under the impression that there is a kof game being developed for the atomiswave. has any information been released? is it kof 2003, kof 3d, or something completely unrelated?

Huh? I love old NeoGeo games, I can absolutely appreciate them and their graphics, but the plain and simple fact is that SNK needs to move on. They cannot do ANYTHING else with the NeoGeo hardware. It's done. All KOF titles are anymore are old characters swapped back in and new backgrounds. SNK needs to move on to new hardware and do more with their 2D. Better sprites, higher resolution, richer sounding audio and music, you name it.

I mean, I like black and white movies. I can appreciate them. So does that mean that all movies have to be black and white? Should radio never have progressed beyond mono? Should we continue to listen to 128kb MP3 for the rest of our lives? VHS was good enough, shouldn't we have stuck with that?

You can appreciate something, but also want to see the technology of that thing progress at the same time.

You're right and wrong at the same time....or something....

Like I said. They keep refering to it as MVS but it's not. I can call a turd a helicopter, doesn't make it so.

SvC is a JAMMA board that runs totally independant from the MVS Motherboard. It's as MVS as Strider or Gals Panic.

The SvC JAMMA board though is very similar to MVS architecture, mostly so they can still port it to the Neo in my opinion.

Still isn't MVS.

Thank you Shidoshi. I love old SNK, but the technology has to progress. Thats the message I am trying to say. The latest news is that the new KOF ... 2003 will be on the old MVS hardware. I also thought and was under the impression that it would be on the NEW Atomiswave Hardware developed with Sammy. But I guess the rest of the video game community was wrong and had HIGHER hopes.

Unless there is something new SNKP is still making a KOF for Atomiswave (and it's supposed to be 3D).
