What's Joel doing now? He's head writer and spfx guy for The Jimmy Kimmel Show. Yecch. He deserves better.
Also, anybody who says Mike episodes aren't as funny should watch the Final Sacrifice, Horror of Party Beach, the giant Spider Invasion, or Final Justice with Joe Don Baker of Mitchell fame.
Also, Miyamoto needs a swift kick in the rear end for thinking people would care about that Pac Man link up. Is that the best idea he could come up with???? Still waiting for those original franchises, hope I'm not disappointed when i go back to E3 this year.
It's 4:30am and I'm in the drunken, rambling, confrontational mood.
I still maintain that Nintendo dominated an overall weak E3 this year. I spent more time on their little island than I did in Sony and Microsoft's booths combined.
If you want to talk about complacent, Gran Turismo 4, Ratchet & Clank 2, Syphon Filter 4 (?), Jak and Daxter 2, etc...Conker's Bad Fur Day remake, Midtown Madness 3, Project Gotham Racing 2...
I don't think anyone at E3 2003 was in much danger of innovating outside of a small handful of developers. I saw Nintendo's booth as a refocusing on multiplayer gaming and a resurgance in some of the smaller franchises like F-Zero and Mario Kart.
I think that Nintendo's lineup of exclusive and non-exclusive games until the next E3 easily bests the other two companies.
I know that my list of games I want to play doesn't do anything but turn into a pissing match, but I'll post them anyway because I want to: Soul Calibur 2 GC (playing), Billy Hatcher (playing), Viewtiful Joe, Mario Kart: Double Dash, I-Ninja GC, Mobile Suit Gundam: The Ace Pilot, Legend of Zelda: The Four Swords, Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles, Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes, Sonic Heroes GC, Starcraft Ghost, Pikmin 2.
Take that random internet people I don't know.
You must be really drunk.
Bang.
I have the solution. Powerstone 3 for cube exclusive.
Sign me up for that one!Quote:

So far, the only company I've seen to do their console right is MS and XBox. Broadband out of the box, built in HDD, a overstretching and universal online service. Too bad they really don't have the games to make these innovations (and the system) last.
Back to the Nintendo thing, I always find the crux of innovation vs. tried-and-true franchises funny. People wanted something new. Okay, let's try a 3D FPS Metroid. People bitch. Okay, how about a new Mario game that plays a lot like Mario 64, but has other conventions new to Mario games (a themed locale, a story, etc)? People don't care for it. Okay, the adult angle; RE remake, RE0, RE4, Eternal Darkness, Too Human (or is it coming out), Geist...they even let BMX XXX on the console and didn't censor it.
Truth be told, it's all little things, a lot of small pushes in different directions. To me it seems like Nintendo is trying to feel-out the possibilities of really expanding outside their niche. The problem is though, they only push a little, and instead of the public encouraging Nintendo on such and to make further pushes, are critical because Nintendo doesn't push enough the first time. So Nintendo pokes out a bit, is condemned for "too little, too late" and now it would be totally possible that Nintendo takes the condemnation as a sign that moving out of the niche is a bad thing. So back they go, doing what they've always done.
It's either that, or they will grow-up like all other game companies. Which is its own discussion in itself. Whichever direction they choose, I doubt Nintendo is doomed.
Hero, you bring up great points about Nintendo doing EXACTLY what people asked them to do in some cases, and yet still whining. Why? Because some people are just never happy with something. They might not be able to do a better job of it themselves, but they can damn sure tell others how to do their jobs.
