Starting a Portfolio Site?

Hey guys, can someone guide me through the process of starting a website, like who offers quality web hosting, what technologies I should look for (php, etc), etc. I'm a traditional print illustrator/designer and I know basic HTML using Dreamweaver, rollovers, and a little java but if someone can help me out that would be cool.

My site is gonna be pretty heavy on the graphics and quick time reels and I'm not really expecting major traffic, besides visits from design portals and potential clients. Ive already registered two domain names, now what?

I would recommend Hostica. Just switched (in the past 6 months or so) to Hostica from SoftCom and am really happy so far. Damn cheap too and you get all the goodies like PHP.
